Forums - Sales - Sony and Microsoft - How Many Units They'll Report in Their Financials?

For the end of Q3 (9/30) Microsoft had reported in its financial reports that Xbox 360 LTD shipments stand on 22.5M and similarly Sony reported PS3 LTD shipments of 16.87M.

The question: What are your predictions for those numbers be for Q4 in the companies financial reports? And why?

Hint - these are "shipped" numbers, not "sold through to customers" numbers. So use the above EOQ Q3 numbers as the starting point and not the VGC numbers.

Prediction made on 11/1/2008:

Q4 2008: 27M xbox LTD, 20M PS3 LTD . 2009 sales: 11M xbox,  9M PS3

Around the Network

He is my prediction with the format month(Americas, Japan, Others)

Microsoft:

October(410, 30, 500), November(900, 40, 800), December(1300, 70, 1200)

Total Q4: 5,250K

Sony:

October(210, 30, 400), November(450, 80, 600), December(900, 120, 900)

Total Q4: 3,690

Therefore the total Q4 LTD to be reported by the companies:

Xbox 360: 27.75M

PS3: 20.77M

Prediction made on 11/1/2008:

Q4 2008: 27M xbox LTD, 20M PS3 LTD . 2009 sales: 11M xbox,  9M PS3

XBOX 360: 27.40M

Playstation 3: 21.10M

Microsoft said they expect to have shipped 25m by the end of November, they also only give shipped numbers to the nearest 100k, so your 360 numbers need some slight adjustment. Also, PS3 shipments are at 16.84m.

For comparison:

360:

Q4 2005: 1.5m
Q4 2006: 4.5m
Q4 2007: 4.3m

PS3:

Q4 2006: 1.68m
Q4 2007: 4.90m

So my predictions:

Q4 2008:

360: 4.5m
PS3: 5.16m

I think supply will be a bigger factor than demand for Q4 2008.
