well i dont think gears hs anything to do with it, last year sony put on a christmas price cut, for the second one in one year, really helped them own christmas. here ms put on one (in the states) and two in most other regions to spur sales in an older console (benifit of keeping costs down they can do it)
sonys issue is very simple, but very hard to deal with, at this point shareholders might riot, if they cut the price on the ps3 before the gaming arm posts a profit for a quarter which has not happend, though they might through this quarter losses were not so bad last one. but expect a cut as soon as sony can afford it

... or what? PS3 sells great if we consider its price. Sure 360 goes a bit higher right now but c'mon... it means nothing. Sony still keeps 1 million lead as for this year. People should quit all this doom and gloom threads. There won't be any dreamcast analogy this gen. It's too late. PS3 already secured ground. It will outsell original xbox and gc soon. Sony don't need to cut the price yet. They are fine with current numbers. It's business - they need to stay profitable.

Sure, they sell good considering the price, but that doesn't help anyone. They lose the most on the console. They may need to stay profitable, but unless they start selling a lot more, they'll never come even close to even.

Anyone wanna hear a fun fact? X360 is growing more than Ps3 in Others. It's true ya know.
Start of April - week ending 8th/10th November. Total others sales.

Ps3 - 1504K
X360 - 1140K
08:
Ps3: 2955K - 96% growth
X360: 2603K - 128% growth.
It even grows more in direct HW. X360 growth = 1463K, but for Ps3 it is 1451K.
