Sony should release a CHEAPER PS3.. especially in these tough economic times most people won't be interested in buying it. Look at how badly the new Guitar Hero is selling..

Sony needs to get a lot of these skus out. They have got to be close to breaking even if not making a little per unit. It is not a suprise to here it is doing good. The only question is will Sony contiune to give the consumers the beffy systems they want or will they retreat back to the cheap PS3 like before?

You do realize they are not replacing the 80GB with the 160GB, they are merely testing the market with the 160GB to see if they should go back to the two SKU setup....

Oh cmon, this is no better than Amazon rankings. You simply cannot judge sales based on a single retailers website. The sales could be really good or not much, there is not enough data to call it either way.

Sony is not dropping the price this year, they've accepted 3rd place this holiday season and possibly falling back to 7.5 mil units behind the 360 for 2nd place, with that said, the best bet for them would be to drop the PS3 WW in February/March. $299 for a standalone 160GB (since the 160GB HDD is pretty much the same price as a 80GB HDD nowadays) and $399 for a 320GB Killzone 2 bundle in NA and Europe and a FFAC/FFXIII demo bundle in Japan.

There aren't, I'm just saying it would be smart to do what I said above, I think a 320GB HDD costs about $75 bucks today whereas a 80GB HDD = 160GB HDD = $50 bucks, so it would make sense to give the customer more storage (for the video/music/downloladable games), they would still be making about the same amount of money on the premium model.

Also if they really wanna make this theoretical price drop special, they would introduce a smaller PS3 (not necessarily the PSThree yet) and introduce Software Emulation BC, sales would increase quite dramatically to say the least.

I think a 320GB harddrive is a bit overkill for a game console....
