short term profitability goals?  There's no profit in the short term, they only stand to lose more money even without a price cut.  They're still losing 400 million a quarter and you expect them to drop the price.

Unless NPD actually posts number, I am not buying either. Yes they bombed but I do not want to trust NeoGAF for everything. Also the month you a buy ps3 it does the worse! YOU ARE TEH CURSED ONE!

Sony gained 40million this quarter, I think it was microsoft that lost 400 million last quarter(and I wonder why *looks at E3*).

They are focusing on turning a profit on the PS3, and then Im sure they will cut price, but the problem is, if they dont do it soon, they are going to fall way behind.

it's 5 days of LBP plus the large amount of leaked software, again it depends on the legs.

VGC are off a pretty good bit for the month with X360, -70k and PS3 +33k. Near 100k gap pretty much missed. Bigger than the miss for July the opposite way IIRC. Going forward this holiday season in light of MS shipment expectations of 25 million by the end of the month will be interesting.

no they didn't unless you are talking about the sony as the whole company and not the gaming division.

i love the way the sony fanboys are now backing away from their LBP expectations. It was on sale 5 days and sold 215k with near 7million consoles to do it on. You can put whatever spin you like on it but it was never going to sell another 300k in 3 days to make it up to the figures it is on VGC. LBP thus far has been the biggest bomb of 2008, i dont think anyone can disagree with that. Nothing on the calander was given so much money and support and sold so little.
