Nyquil.

I can't sleep without some kind of white noise in the background. A running fan usually works.

Get rid of your windows, my room has no windows, I can sleep up to 16 hours if something or someone doesnt wake me up.

What's wrong with black noise?

You ever try listening to Music for Airports by Brian Eno?  That's a good sleep album.

I like to make sure some noise is going on to relax me. If it's dead silent, I start thinking about things that worry me and I can never sleep.

Hey, man, it's cool. I've got a lot of friends that listen to black noise.

I just looked up Brian Eno on youtube. Now I feel like I'm going to fall asleep in my chair. I'll have to remember to find some more of his stuff when it isn't 2am.

I have trouble sleeping too, my brain never switches off, kind of like Philo T Fransworths didn't. But I don't alcohol like he did to sleep.

I find that if your brain is always switched on then if you concentrate really hard on one thing you eventually drift off. I think the best thing to do it with is try to imagine a story.

Anyway that's what works for me.

This is putting me to sleep right now. I like it. It's background music that only works as background music. It builds a beautiful soundscape. It feels like a really non-demanding Radiohead album. I think it'd be great study music too. Or the sort of music you put on to ... I dunno', do some needlecraft to, or origami or something.

Do you like soundscapey music? I would recommend Biomech by Ocean Machine. For some interesting dreams, try sleeping to it.

Try to stay awake, it'll make you fall asleep.

* Leave the bedroom if you can't sleep. Go into another room and read, or do something relaxing and quiet.

Seconded. Nothing worse then "forcing" yourself to sleep. Doesn't work. Get up read something, try sleeping again a while later.
