don't believe the RROD myth. I'm still on my first 360 purchased shortly after launch and it only failed on me once but I'm sure it had nothing to do with tv rrod myth. Sure I got 3 rings but it had to be from something else. The myth was started by Sony to try try and get people to buy their inferior and I might add lame Psucks3.

I don't think the XBOX 360 will ever be RROD free with it's current architecture , but it's definitely not as big a problem as it was before plus your covered by the warranty for 3 years I think.

I had a 2006 unit which I ended up giving to my father and bought a 60GB this summer. I never had any hardware issues with my first box, but I will say that the 60GB is a lot quieter. The drive is near silent compared to the old unit.

As far as the red rings goes, you can check out threads about the reliability of the new units at places like GAF. So far, it seems the hardware revision in the 60GBs has significantly lowered failure rates.

Really? I just bought a 60 Gig Xbox a week ago, and I can't stand how loud it is.

It is, my original 360 was a Core 360 from late 2006 and my current 360 is an Elite (Falcon) from early this year and there is a large sound difference between the drives!

Yea same, mines loud but its quieter than the old one I reckon.  I mean I'm able to zone it out and only when I concentrate am I able to realize it.

Hi, this is Vince with Shamwow.

Well with 60gb just install the games with new NXE. It decreases the temperature again, and I bet that pretty much will eliminate any chance of RRoD. Also Installs make your 360 a stealth bomber in terms of noise.

I am ordering a 60 gb xbox 360 and I was wondering if anybody has had an issue with it red ringing? I remember Squilliam had a post about how it runs cooler and how the motherboard was changed (I think that's what he said at least).  I"m just curious on if it fixed the problem or if it's something I might still eventually have to face in the future.

Congrats on buying a 360. Yes there is always a risk (0% risk doesn't exists with mass-produced goodz).

Got the problem a year ago and they fixed it in a week (I was also able to follow my console via XBOX.com), no issue since then.

Mine had a motherboard problem at that time...

Anyhow, It didn't impacted my satisfaction for the console.

Evan Wells (Uncharted 2): I think the differences that you see between any two games has much more to do with the developer than whether it’s on the Xbox or PS3.
