As far as the red rings goes, you can check out threads about the reliability of the new units at places like GAF. So far, it seems the hardware revision in the 60GBs has significantly lowered failure rates.

Really? I just bought a 60 Gig Xbox a week ago, and I can't stand how loud it is.

Yea same, mines loud but its quieter than the old one I reckon.  I mean I'm able to zone it out and only when I concentrate am I able to realize it.
