Some of you might know that today Blizzard closed down 350,000 D2 and Starcraft accounts. First off this is good in some ways because yes it eliminates hackers however there are a couple issues I have with this. I am still a D2 player and am legit so I haven't been banned, but I really doubt Blizzard banned these people to make D2 a 10 year old game more enjoyable.

I'm boycotting Blizzard because I'm 90 percent sure they're banning these people for profits. What profits? Blizzard doesn't want us playing D2 or Starcraft anymore. The mighty D2 ban wave has banned many legit players, some of them simply because they used a friend's account associated with hacks, and some of them for using D2loader. For those of you who don't know what D2loader is, it basically allows you to run multiple D2s on different cd keys. This is useful because it allows you to transfer items by yourself and level and rush your own character.

My big gripe is Blizzard banning legit D2 players who are playing multiple D2s they paid for and not banning WoW players who pay over 5000 dollars a year to have multiple WoW accounts at one time. Just because we D2 players don't pay a subscription means they can basically shut us down whenever they want. Battlenet costs money to maintain and for a while I was getting a mixed message that Blizzard wants us out. Now I'm completely sure that Blizzard does want us D2 players out, 350,000 accounts is probably at least half the D2 population.

It's not our fault Blizzard made Diablo 2 free, it was their choice and they fucked up. Now that they realize they can charge us they've decided to cut off their loyal fanbase (players who play their damn game for years). They have a new blue ocean of casual/core gamers playing WoW and us old salty D2 players just don't fit in their profit plans. I refuse to buy anymore Blizzard products until they treat their fans right. How do I know the next Blizzard game I buy won't end up in the same situation. /end rant.

And for the record yes I'm going to still play D2 until they shut down our battlenet server, I'm going to get my money's worth and more out of this game!

I think they banned my WC3 CDKey and I'm about to get into heated arguments with them. However I'm not about to boycott them.

Edit: Just checked my mail and they are basically telling me to go blow off, about to raise hell if they keep this schtick up.

Purely business. Nothing you can do about it. The amount of people that understand this > The amount of people who don't. Blizzard = Impenetrable. Conclusion: They won't give a shit and never will. You will only be hurting yourself by doing this.

I'm not being cold either, D2 is a fun game... But hey look at it this way, there are other games that are worse than WoW or D2 and they charge for the service...

That's probably why the first developer to use Wiiconnect24 and Peer to Peer functions of the Wii for mmo purposes will become super rich.

Anyway Diablo 3 is coming out soon, if that's P2P then you will have 100% confirmation on your suspicions especially if they close down D2. Sorry bro byt my tip is ge yourself off that game now, it's addicting but you can do it.

@Scottie do you have proof that the D2 world is expanding? Have you played D2 as long as I have because if so than you can not deny that Diablo 2 is a dying game (in terms of users). Give me a link for proof that D2 is still in the top 20. And even if it is see these points.

1. If you read my OP you'd realize when I said I was upset people were banned for multiple cd keys so they can play more characters by themselves that would also mean sales for D2 can't be counted accurately. There are many people that have over 10 cd keys, D2Loader is an extremely popular program in D2. So we have no idea how many real new players are joining even with sales data.

2. If your using amount of accounts growing as information that doesn't count as proper information either. I myself had 10 accounts at one point and I know people that had over 100 accounts. When Blizzard says 350,000 accounts were closed that doesn't mean 350,000 players were banned. I'm guessing it's more like 100,000 players. Check d2jsp forums you'll find many people bitching about how they lost over 100 accounts worth of shit that took them 8 years to farm.

3. When you say why would they sabotage this, take this fact into account. D2Loader has been around for a while around 2006. Warden (Battletnet's anti-cheating program) was also developed at that time. At the time Warden could ALREADY sense who was using D2Loader and who was not. If you know how Warden works, you can't say well maybe they just didn't program it to figure out who was doing what. NO! Warden is similar to spyware, it actually scans your D2 folder, Warden also scans your .dll to tell if you've modified the game code at all. However, despite many ban waves that occurred during 2006 and 2007, Blizzard never banned anyone for using the D2Loader, so here's a question back at you, why would they ban D2Loader now?

Think about it, who plays D2 the most, a person with D2Loader or someone without. Obviously anyone who has D2Loader plays Diablo hardcore (not the actual hardcore mode) and these same people will probably continue to play Diablo 2 for years and years. Blizzard isn't as worried about other players because they know since they're not as hardcore they'll probably just move onto another game.

Now tell me my OP still doesn't make sense.

@Vlad I'm sorry that you lost your account, it always hurts the most when I see people that don't deserve to get banned. If you need another WC3 cdkey I'll be happy to let you borrow mine as I haven't played DOTA in well over 3 months.

@Incandescence that's a good idea, my friend was invited to D2PK a year ago but didn't take the offer. If given a chance to enter again, I'd join in a heartbeat.

The absolutely useless support said that I may be banned for only 1 month, so I'm gonna wait 3 more weeks and see how it turns out. Thanks for the very generous offer though, I'll keep it in mind.
