Some Sony guy said it will be huge, there was some thread about it and Sony wanting Sackboy to be their mascot. I would think a mascot game would sell huge (Halo above 8mil and Mario Galaxy above 7mil). Those are long term sales so we will need to wait for LBP but i see LBP being overshadowed by many games this holiday.

Also this thread in a way proves LBP was thought to have a huge opening or there would be no need for this. Where there's smoke, there's fire.

90% of people expected around what it was. Some overestimated some under estimated some where right on.

5% Expected HUGE SALES! like crazymann. and megaman.... and i suggest you read their post history and considering their credibility before quoting their persictions.

5% severly underestimated it. We have seen people thinking 300k, 600k, and under 500k and the kicker their was those were LIFE TIME EXPECTATIONS! In the japan perdiction thread a bunch of people said under 20k a bunch said over 100k... so what?

Check agamemnon post and then check the poll, granted those are lifetime sales but people and I do mean people who need to pick and choose in a poll and submit their choice. So people think LBP will have huge sales lifetime and I did say we need to wait and see what are LBP sales to compare to other mascots like Halo and Mario.

People voted LBP for huge sales, Sony rep has said LBP will be huge and PS3 mascot, a big advertising campaign (commercial after commercial on tv), people needing to make threads and posts to convince other people LBP wasn't expected to do huge sales. Maybe some people said LBP wouldn't be huge but do they outnumber the people who thought LBP will be huge? Credibility doesn't factor in this just the number of people in the community.

And its kinda funny how the polls aren't restricted to non users and a person can vote more than once on them. Don't try to take those polls into an arguement because their credibility is shit.

BTW: before the polls got reset there was one about best selling '08 exclusive. And in the first month MGS4 only had about 12% of the votes months later MGS4 had over 30% of the votes. When it was apperant it wouldn't be. Just people fucking with the polls.

At some point you have to let it go. Bitching and moaning about other people's stupid predictions and comments only make you sound more fanboyish. When SMG didn't get off to the best of starts you didn't hear too much whining about it. I said I was disappointed and moved on. Turns out the long term sales were pretty good, but even if they weren't that good I didn't feel the need to defend it.

Sales in the half mil for the first week are really solid. I'm sure the guys putting out LBP are pretty happy with it. I am not disappointed in the sales at all. In fact, I will be one of the happy people who pick this game up. BUT....... that being said. All I heard for the last year was how LBP was "going to be huge". Huge by whos definition I wonder? Certainly not mine. When you describe something as huge, it is giving the impression that it has exceeded all expectations. That it's overpowering success is undenyable. That people are rushing out to buy PS3s just so that they can play LBP. That is huge. If you remember, LBP was mentioned as being the game that could save the PS3. While I believe that it is not a console in need of saving, a statement like that is going to draw the ire of those wacky 360 fanboys. Anyway, the game could BECOME huge, but a half mil in the first week, while impressive, is not huge.

indeed, and somehow discussion only arouses of those 10% "extremist" expectations and usually between those who made them...

which might be the reason why often discussion about sales is irrational and flat out annoying with lots of tries to discredit the opposing view from both sides *sigh* .. and tbh that always makes me sad

I'll add to the sales when LBP becomes a classic and sells for $19.99 at amazon. I think for a "casual" game, $59.99 is too expensive. Maybe thats' why it's not selling as well as it should.
