Mass Effect 2, Halo: Recon, and possibly Splinter Cell: Conviction will probably be the holiday games. Forza 3 will probably be the big summer titles for North America and Europe. Outside of Star Ocean IV, I'm not sure about Japan. Possibly Cry-on, Blue Dragon 2, and to a lesser extent Ninety Nine Nights: Rondo.

Halo 3 Recon is the obvious big seller. Halo Wars will also sell big numbers due simply to the brand, though the fact that it's an RTS on a console will likely limit the audience a bit.

Alan Wake is the big title I'm looking forward to for 2009. There's also Star Ocean 4 and it's possible that we'll see Mass Effect 2.

id say halo recon but.... killzone 2 omg :o and a rts on a console?.... doesnt seem right but we should wait to see now endwars, a rts game, does.

I was thinking Splinter Cell: Conviction. but that game has been in development hell for so long, I wouldn't be surprised if they port it to the PS3.

Other then that, like last year Microsoft is keeping us in the dark until we are done Christmas 2008. Remember, last year the same was said about the 2008 360 lineup...

 

Sounds a bit optimistic... I'm looking forward to playing this game or at least having some news about it. But I assume it will be a little later than we are expecting.

 

Conviciton fell off the chart right after Assassins Creed... I don't think any official anouncement has been made about its release

OK..  Delete Splinter Cell Conviction...  Add Mass Effect 2, Lionhead's Secret Project, Cry-On, and Ninja Blade... 

Gamestop has Splinter Cell Conviction for February, I know they recently weeded out a lot of games that they didn't expect for '09 release, so I still have dim hope.

Ironically despite what the original poster may have thought the list in incredibly extensive. Especially once you consider titles that are likely to slip into the new year. While everyone will list off the obvious titles like Alan Wake. You do not even need to go into theoretical titles to find other strong showings going remarkably unstated.
