Wow someone actually mentions Tribes. You know Tribes was probably my favorite shooter game before I played Half Life 2, which I only bought to get Team Fortress 2. I'm so glad they made that orange box bundle.

Halo was released in 2001. Unreal 2004 in 2004. I dare say SSJ12 was being sarcastic.
When was Tribes released?

1998
Tribes was awesome. Nothing like ferrying several guys with mortars on a vehicle to unleash hell on the enemy in vast expanses. Jetpacks, mortar laser guidance, flying bombers, etc. It was great.
And you could heal people and vehicles with a laser type tool. Sound familiar?
Boo Zucas. We've already had a discussion about this over lunch I believe.
Half-Life2 is just one of those games that takes the technology of the era and pushes the genre to its furthest possible limit. A rare, harmonious blend of innovation and mainstream technical achievement. Sadly, I don't think anything else is going to come close to it for a long time, unless they release Half-Life3 sooner than later. Thus far, this would be the only game that I would give 10/10.

1st off: Halo did not copy UT2004 considering UT2004 is about 5 times faster than Halo could ever wish to be and 20 times more interesting and fun. UT2004 is currently the best multiplayer game on the market and it will be a while before anyone dethrones it it seems.
2nd off: Tribes was an AMAZING game and I loved it with all my heart, but I felt the original UT beat it out that same year. UT had no vehicles and stuff but dear god the speed and the fun you could have with it. Both UT and Tribes came out ON THE EXACT SAME DAY. It was a GLORIOUS day for for FPS fans, and one I doubt will ever be topped again in my lifetime. UT2004 copied UT + some Battlefield and Tribes sprinkled in, but mostly UT99.
3rd off: I just feel good inside every time I say this, HL2 is currently the best SINGLE player and I enjoy it every time I play through it.
Oh. Also There was a little game called Operatoin Flashpoint which was twice as good as Halo and it came out in the same year. Had vehicles and everything. It won several GOTYs too actually.

Well sales of Halo compared to UT would certanly say otherwise when it comes to which one is more interesting and fun.
I kinda understand why you dislike Halo now. You're all about speed... Unreal Tounament always seemed like a game where you run firing like a madman on crystal meth. However, because of that speed, UT series loses a lot of strategy found in multiplayer compared to games Halo.
