Forums - Nintendo - DSi Reduced Battery Life

So you're saying that the DSi that you designed and manufactured is better than Nintendo's.

Okay. Then you clearly don't need to buy one.

For anyone else still buying one that have a legitimate issue with the power management, just buy an aftermarket battery with a higher mAh rating (this is literally the same retread argument that took place over the PSP-3000).

Anyway, I'm under the impression that most people already have a DSL anyway, but then people seems to collect them in multiples for whatever reason. It's not like the DSi plays different games (until they start being distributed through the Nintendo Shopping Channel).

I am saying the one I would design would be better, yes. If there is a battery for the DSi being sold to improve its battery life then clearly it could be included in the original model.

I'm still always surprised to see how quickly my DSLite battery light turns red. I dunno, I'm definitely going to get the DSi, with DSWare being a huge incentive. I just wish that battery life would be a bigger concern for todays handheld devices (I'm also looking at you iPod).

Your batteries would probably last longer if you fully cycled them at least once a month.

Top charging even LiIon batteries will reduce their lifespan over time. I'm pretty bullish about not charging up my devices until they run dead, but it does keep them running for a long time. How long? I always end up replacing the device before I have to buy a new battery.

I have four iPods and the only one that holds a weak charge was the one that I used to use in my car (top charged through the adapter every time I drove somewhere).

What's with all the DSi hate? It sounds great. And besides, it's rechargable so it's not like it eats up batteries.
