I only find this generation bad in that the triumphing console is the worst one by far ,both in specs ,features and game library .
For me the Wii is a dissappointment.The worst game library by far ,the only games worth playing are iterations of last gen games with little next gen in them.And it doesnt deliver in what promised,the next gen motions is little more than waggle.
The 360 is a very good console ,and it has for sure grabbed some Sony exclusives to be multi now.Still ,graphics aside its pretty much the same as the original Xbox and compared to what the rivals are offering it offers a less distinctive experience.Still very good ,but the online fees ,RROD ,no HD format included and that its getting less exclusives that the Xbox(although it has managed all the same to dwarf the Sony exclusives) make it only the second best.
The PS3 is the best console around ,but the delays of the console and some games ,some early development problemas and the high price has effetively stole some of its thunder not being able to keep up with the Wii (that would be very difficult due to the hypercasual nature of that console)and not reducing the gap with the 360 fast enough (due to 360 price drops ,but thats also the game).Because of that it has a worse image that last gen.But ,despite the dry on RPG ,the PS3 is better that what the PS2 was and has a better library 2 years on.Blu Ray ,Wifi ,HDD ,DVD upscaling ,free online ,PSN games ,PSN features and demos ,Trophies ,lots of multimedia features ,a way better console technically compared on what was the PS2 against the rivals ,etc etc.Once all is said and done the PS3 will have been a fantastic machine ,one of the best ever.And its offering quite a number of exclusives due to Sony numerous first party developers,and good original content as The Last Guy ,Wipeout HD,Flower ,Afrika ,Flow ,Fat Princess ,Eco Chrome ,Pixel Junk Eden ,Pixel Junk Monsters ,Little Big Planet ,Eye of Judgement ,Trials of Topoq....a good flow of original and innovative games.
| Lolcislaw said: I actually like this gen why? Because all 3 consoles can coexist, even when one is clearly dominating, in previous generations it was one dominant console that had most of the attention and support. This generation is Wii's yet PS3 and 360 are able to be quite prosperous. |
here here, that should make it a really long generation

This generation is the best ever generation of video game consoles. All three companies have HUGE exclusives and are putting in a lot of work. I have never seen this many good games come out in such a short period of time.
Your vastly different views on VERY similiar HD consoles show how pessimistic and biased you are. 360 offers pretty much the same experience as PS3, though you love one but hate the other. Twisted logic, this is.
Playstation 5 vs XBox Series Market Share Estimates
Regional Analysis (only MS and Sony Consoles)
Europe => XB1 : 23-24 % vs PS4 : 76-77%
N. America => XB1 : 49-52% vs PS4 : 48-51%
Global => XB1 : 32-34% vs PS4 : 66-68%
There are several problems in the OP, but I'll limit myself to pointing out that he's comparing a generation that's only two years old (three for the 360) to generations which had 6+ years. Had you done the same thing in '04, you'd be saying that THAT was the weakest generation.
You may ultimately prove to be right, but how about letting things play out first?
One of the reasons why Ps3 gets worse marks this gen over wii/360 when it comes to innovation is because it doesn't offer classic gaming as xbox live arcade, and wii store. PSN games tend to be like store bought games...which makes PSN offer nothing unique compared to store bought ps3 games.
Sometimes you have to go back to go forward Sony.
I think this particular generation, given the time that it's been around, is shaping up much more favorably than its predecessors.
It is all about the games that make a generation good or bad. Considering 07 is my best year of gaming ever I would say I like this generation so far and I am still wondering if 08 is better than 07 hmm...

Oh, for Pete's sake.

The reason that it's obvious you're a Sony fan is how you discuss the GAMES on each console. You reduce the Wii to "novelty games," reduce the 360 to "copycat games," and then post a long list of awesome PS3 games; only bashing Sony for strategic errors like a higher price and game delays.
You can certainly give credit to Sony for trying to innovate by buying up start-up devs with big ideas. But for me, that's like a cherry on the top of this generation. When you start with Wii's game-changing innovation and barrage of landmark games (Sports, Fit, Kart), which hasn't prevented Nintendo from making their biggest "core" projects ever (Galaxy, TP, Brawl), and then add 360's aggressive pursuit of last-gen's ideals creating an amazing "hardcore" gamer lineup from Halo and Gears to edgier things like Mass Effect and Bioshock, and all the huge multi-plats like CoD4, GTAIV and Assassin's Creed, and the three download services which have collectively been a great source of innovation, and the rise of the music games, especially the band games that have thrived on current gen console, and handheld gaming in what I think is clearly the best shape its ever been in with Nintendogs, Brain Age, NSMB, Monster Hunter, etc., and then on top of all that, you STILL get things like LBP from Sony, it just goes to show how ridiculously spoiled we are this generation, and how only a Sony fan bitter about the comparative failure of PS3 could be disappointed. That's MY take.
"[Our former customers] are unable to find software which they WANT to play."
"The way to solve this problem lies in how to communicate what kind of games [they CAN play]."
