And we have to be serious, I haven't played XIII yet (of course ...) but both FFX and FFXII weren't as good as the holy trinity (FFVI, VII, VIII).

... O_O why no mention of IX when everyone knows it was the best ?

First, because it wasn't. Second, because neither Nomura nor Kitase worked on it.

To add a bit on my previous sentence, I always felt that IX was extremely overrated, it's just a decent RPG, but a big letdown after 6,7 and 8. The story was very shallow for me, most characters were annoying (except Vivi), and the battle system just didn't feel right, I never got to like it

So much fail in this post. I thought IX was a little better than FF VIII (2nd best FF IMO) but it was MILES ahead of FF VII. FF VII is some boring piece of crap game. FF IX isn't overrated. FF VII is overrated. The battle system wasn't the best ever but the rest was awesome.

OT: We've discussed this before. Kitase was the only one speaking, btw. We never got to hear Nomura's opinion on this so don't even bother mentioning him. And besides, Versus is still exclusive. Kitase may be pissed but I highly doubt he'd leave SE. Not because one game went multiplatform. It doesn't work that way and Kitase is a pretty big figure at SE so he won't just...drop out unless they screw with him a lot more.

FF VII pisses all over FF IX. In every aspect save for envirioments and graphics, but that's devs utilising hardware better.

You see, Johann? This is what I was referring to when I said this

"I don't hate it, I'm just disappointed with it. Still if you think I express too much my dislike of FFIX, you should see other users throw insults at every possible opportunity at FFVII, and me doing the same with Dragon Quest VIII."

Anyway, if I fail for not liking IX, you fail as much for hating VII

Yeah, but I actually played FF VII. I don't hate it because it's popular or something (hating something just because it's popular = lol), I don't like it because it's boring.

Anyway, I don't "hate" it, but it's not really that good.

And you think I haven't played IX? I don't hate it because it's popular or something, I don't like it because the story's cliched and the battle system doesn't work well

Anyway, I don't "hate" it, but it's not really that good.

See? I can do it too

FFXIII will be the ebst Final Fantasy EVER!!

{I hope that cools things down here}

All hail the KING, Andrespetmonkey

Namura is like kojima to square, if they lose him, they lose a huge talent.

Im not suprised he is acting like this, square like most companies are taking money over value, if FF XIII is a much less of a game due to space, then they wouldnt care, as long as it sells better.

If they leave, "R.I.P." S-E will become official.

"Dr. Tenma, according to you, lives are equal. That's why I live today. But you must have realised it by now...the only thing people are equal in is death"---Johann Liebert (MONSTER)

"WAR is a racket. It always has been.

It is possibly the oldest, easily the most profitable, surely the most vicious. It is the only one international in scope. It is the only one in which the profits are reckoned in dollars and the losses in lives"---Maj. Gen. Smedley Butler

R.I.P FF, actually. That completes the destruction of the original team.

You misread part of my post. I thought by your quote "Still if you think I express too much my dislike of FFIX, you should see other users throw insults at every possible opportunity at FFVII" - some people just hate it because it's popular.

FF IX's story is as cliched as any other FF (or RPG for that matter). Big force trying to destroy the world. Well...OK.

If you're going by that...

While I'm not saying that FF's stories have been cliche-free, some games have managed to throw in an interesting story with some good twists to the formula. The hugest success in the FF franchise, is, of course, FF Tactics, but other games have done it well too. And the save-the-world cliche is one of the biggest things I criticize in FF, but that doesn't mean I discredit any game that uses it.

But don't generalize, there are tons of RPGs that have avoided the story cliches pretty well (Suikoden is the biggest example)
