Forums - Gaming - So where's my sequel?

I think the one thing that people clamoring for sequels to games that did solidly but not spectacularly often forget is that if the original creator doesn't want to to a sequel (because he'd rather do something else) that sequel isn't going to get made in most cases (and a publisher isn't going to hire a whole new staff to make a sequel to a game that only does decently).

Just think of how much the original had going against it. A new take on the point and click adventure games, a genre that was barely alive on PC's, let alone consoles. A game featuring a bright and colourful cell shaded boy pirate and his flying bell monkey on a console being criticized for low quality kiddy games, a game named "Zack & Wiki"!

There was every reason to believe that this tough and challenging game wrapped in a cheery packaging with an odd name would fall flat on it's face, and yet, almost entirely through word of mouth, the game staked out nearly half a million in sales. Just imagine what a sequel could do?

Serves me right for challenging his sales predictions!

Bet with dsisister44: Red Steel 2 will sell 1 million within it's first 365 days of sales.

Probably shifting resources to something they know can sell better.

On a dev cost to sales ratio, Zack & Wiki is probably a damn profitable venture.

or they could ignore the ratio and make more money.  It's not so simple because spending $1 to make $10 is not as profitable as spending $90 to make $100

Which can easily turn in to spending $90 to make $50

 That depends.

It's better to have 15 men have costs of 1 million and make 5 million over 6 months than to have 150 men have costs of 20 million and make 25 million over 2 and a half year.

Microsoft stole them?
Joking.

They didin't sell so much so maybe they ain't coming...I would like to see Okami 2 but...

Take my love, take my land..

I mean Capcom was an early adopter of the Wii, so there's most likely more coming, a little over year is about a full (proper) development cycle so this may just be a dry season from them cause they're making something really good.

As for De Blob there's supposed to be a DS game coming.

Boom Blox wasn't all that great IMO (had some real issues with detecting pitch speed) but a new one using Wii Motion Plus could be amazing.

And I've heard Elebits 2 is in the works but that's just a rumor.

Wii Friend Code - 5882 9717 7391 0918 (PM me if you add me), PSN - MaxwellGT2000, XBL - BlkKniteCecil, MaxwellGT2000

They used that money to make Dead Rising Wii.

Elebits 2 was announced for the DS if i remember correctly.

I thought that was it's own stand alone game not a sequel... if it was that kinda blows but hopefully they'll be another on the Wii.

I would be completely all over a Zack and Wiki sequel. That is truely a great game.

Boom Blox can die as far as I'm concerned.
