my thoughts:
10. i don't think mii's really take anything away from anything. i don't think this should really be a point for or against nintendo. so his comment on this is un-needed.
9. this is just dumb. uhh, they didn't force technology on us. they brought out a sweet new technology that represents the next step in a that is really not going anywhere beyond where it is now without innovation like this. for instance, some games use the gamecube controller and/or the classic controller when motion controls don't fit the game's style. or there are options for motion control or non-motion control for some games. so even if the technology were bad, which is the furthest thing from the truth, they aren't forcing it on us. if it wasn't for motion control this gen wouldn't be nearly as exciting and the future of the gaming industry would look rather bleak.
8. i agree nintendo games are too easy and have been pretty much since the switch to 3D. i think they need to realize when you give a game so much extra space with the third dimension you need to add in more enemies/challenges or it can feel like you are just wandering around and every so often run into something, whereas in the 2D games there was constant challenge. mostly its just mario and zelda that these problems with difficulty, but those are nintendo's two flagship franchises and the next iterations of these games need to be significantly harder than they have been in the past decade. But still, its really just for those two games so its not a widespread problem, but it absolutely needs to be fixed because those are very important games for nintendo.
7. The porting of games is gettin sorta ridiculous. Bringing RE4 to the wii with much better controls and okami which wasn't on gc and sold to very few was good. but porting gamecube ninty franchises over to the wii is just a waste. you can play gamecube games on the wii and these are nintendo franchises, nintendo should be focused on making new versions of these franchises and not just sucking money off old games. any gamecube nintendo game does absolutely not need to be ported. its just a waste of time and resources, just make the next version of the game for wii, thats all anyone wants, not recycled last gen games.
6. Nintendo should do something to help convince 3rd parties to have more quality exclusives on the wii. Cuz for some crazy reason being the fastest selling system in history isn't enough. Maybe they just need better relations with 3rd parties, i dunno. but more quality 3rd party games are absolutely needed. As for exlusives however, nintendo gets more than the other systems, it just needs better 3rd party good high budget games.
5. pretty much just read what i said in #6.
4. This is just dumb. Viewtiful Joe is not a nintendo franchise, and neither is Castelvania. Also it is dumb cuz they are making those franchise games. Thing is they don't just pump out tons of mediocre games constantly. They usually make one excellent game for each franchise per system and i wouldn't haven't any other way. They've already brought us a mario, zelda port, metroid, mario kart, smash bros., battalion wars, fire emblem, paper mario, mario strikers, mario baseball, animal crossing. Just because every nintendo franchise didn't release in the wii's first two year on the market leaving nintendo with no franchises left for the rest of the generation doesn't mean those games won't come out. Certainly a true wii zelda, a f-zero, kid icarus, pikmin, and maybe another mario will come out. And they should also make a wii star fox, kirby, hopefully yoshi games and maybe some more i'm not thinking of. so basically this doesn't make sense because they aren't at all ignoring their franchises.
3. absolutely. online is the worst of the 3 consoles, friend codes are awful. and even though it probably won't be changed this gen, that is a shame because the online should be loads better. we can just hope that they give a good online system next gen.
2. There are plenty of casual games now and nintendo should focus much more of their attention on making and convincing 3rd parties to make core games now. Not to say they shouldn't make any more casual games, but the focus needs to be on core games and nintendo is in dire need of making sure 3rd parties understand the need for lots of effort to go toward core games and not cheap casual cash-in's.
1. I do sorta feel like nintendo isn't listening when they claim they are making all these core games and then list like 5 games and those are all the big core games on the horizon. Still though, when does it ever feel like sony, microsoft, or nintendo are listening to us. If i had a 360 or ps3 i certainly wouldn't feel like sony and microsoft were listening to my needs a whole lot.
basically the only good points to take away from this are: make mario and zelda much harder from now on(minor/major point), don't port nintendo franchise gamecube games and instead focus that effort onto those franchises' wii games(minor point), do something to convince 3rd parties to make more high budget high quality games from the ground up for the wii (major point), and the online needs major fixing (major point).
