Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Why does Nintendo take that long to make games compared to HD consoles?

Doesn't really matter to me... their games never really change much....

Do you own any Nintendo consoles? You own GBA and DS, but I believe you have said you don't own any Nintendo consoles, and your profile only backs that claim up. So I'm guessing you're only re-using an old comment, and that you don't really have any clue.

Kylohk, while I sort of agree, personally - I don't want that to happen. Zelda is something that comes out once every 3rd year, and then my family play it toghether. Heck, my sisters have moved out, but we still played Zelda all together. It's a special occasion, and I'd prefer it to be that way.

Other than that, it has NOTHING to do with Nintendo polishing extra. The reason they have less bugs, is a lot because of the type of game the game is. They are simply a hell of a lot smaller than all the 3rd party game creators for Ps360. In fact, parts of Nintendo make sort of rushed out games (for instance Intelligent Systems). Not saying that means they are bad, but they lack the complete polish.

Well if you want more good games, why don't you get for example a 360. It is quite cheap now. :)

I don't want a 360 nor a PS3, I want a Nintendo console with Nintendo games to play. I thought I would be getting that when I bought my Wii, but it looks like it was only for the first year. I really hate how they could care less about America, where they don't release games at all. Is asking for a core game once every 3 months a lot? Maybe Nintendo fired many people that's the only reasonable thing to expect, since they aren't producing any games at all.

Well, that's just me, I like their games too much, but I hate how they rely on a game every 6 months to get sales, and mainly by creating artificial demand, like in MKWii's case. I mean there's no way the game could be supply constrained for that long. I wonder what will they do now that Wii Music has failed to be the holiday hit like Wii Fit was last year in Japan It looks like it's all in AC:CF hands, but I really don't care anymore. I wanted Nintendo to succeed, but not to the point where money is the only important thing for them.

People could argue all they want about how many units MKWii, Wii Fit and SSBB have sold, but the truth is that there was nothing like an epic game released this year, and neither will be next year. Honestly, who expects more games for the Wii from Nintendo in 2009? Wii Sports Resort and GC ports are a very poor line-up.

But maybe they are making games who knows? So if they are, why the FUCKING FUCK don't they tell us what they're working on. Is it that hard to maintain your fans satisfied with a screenshot or two? Why in the hell they hide everything from us until a week before the game is unveiled. I wish someone leaked all their projects, though I know they aren't making many games now, they are waiting until the current hits stop selling

And no I won't buy another console, because I don't care about any of the games they have, but I will keep on complaining because I bought a Wii with the hopes of getting games from Nintendo to play. There's no denying that core gamers who buy a Wii are Nintendo fans mostly. But Nintendo is screwing their fans hard. Getting 1 game out every year is not what I expected, I want Reggie to be fired badly, he destroyed Nintendo of America.

Pandora's Tower will sell less than 100k lifetime in Japan.

Nintendo is actually a pretty small company despite their huge sales. They only have around 3000 employees.

There was nothing like an epic game released this year? Okay, Nintendo released 2 of their biggest franchises. What did you expect? Zelda every year? Nintendo averages 1 game release pr month. 23 games in 100 weeks. If you're only happy with 1/3 of the games Nintendo releases, and you only like Nintendo games (you said "I want a Nintendo console with Nintendo games to play."), then you're pretty much screwed any way you go. You're in a ridiculously small minority, and no-one is going to give you the games you want. So stop complaining, it won't help, and A) Try out the games and see if you like them B) Buy another console, I'm sure the games are better than you expect or C) Give up on gaming.

Mario Kart and Wii Fit were released in America...and are the two biggest exclusives of the year on any platform.

@trestres: Nintendo has released about the same amount of core games on the Wii as they did on the GC in a similar period of time. You might argue the spacing was bad, but personally I don't really care if they bunch their releases up.

Nintendo don't whore out their franchises, that's why. This has so many advantages - it gives the games massive legs, and reduces the amount of traded in 'old versions', like what happens to every HD game when the next yearly iteration comes out. This also stops people becoming bored of the franchises - Nintendo's IPs have lasted 20+ years for a reason. Finally, it means they have lots of time to polish and perfect the next one.

Mario Kart, Wii Fit, and Brawl off thetop of my head were huge games releasd by Nintendo. You also have Wii Music, Mario Supper Sluggers, and Wario Land: Shake Dimension released. Thats 6 games without even trying to think about it.
