Forums - Gaming - What 2008 console game has the best storyline?

Fallout 3, MGS4, and Bioshock.

All 3 are as good as a storyline can possibly be.

They are different, but equally good. 10 out of 10s. There is no comparing them, apples and oranges.

You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.

NO NO, NO NO NO.

So far it would be Fable 2 from what I played.

When did Time shift come out?

personally I would disqualify Bioshock because it's original release was not this year, since it's the same story, that story isn't genuinly 2008.

How was Too Human's story (no spoilers please)?

Metal Gear Solid 4 of course. The only game with a story that can hold its own against the best Frank Miller or Alan Moore graphic novels. It is kind of obvious that they exclude the game with the best story because it is on the PS3.

Dude, that's ignorant. Anyone who had ever read TDKR or the League would know you're full of it. Games have come a long way in terms of narrative, but none of them have ever managed to reach decent movie level dialogue for a sustained period, much less a freakin' Alan Moore graphic novel, that's silly.

Yes, MGS4 had one of the best narratives of the year, but MGS3's narrative was equally compelling, as was Bioshock, and Fallout 3. Certainly, Bioshock was more difficult to comprehend due to the way the information was delivered, but the backstory is actually deeper and more involved.

MGS4 has a badass narrative, but it's not near the best narrative of all time. That's silly, imo.

.....but at least for once, you're giving an opinion, instead of trolling, so it's a step in the right direction. Just try not to be so militant pro-Sony and we'll make you a forum poster yet.

Also, I owned you in the official resistance 2 review topic. Go check it out. Good read.

I'll go with Patapon. :D

Although I have yet to see the end of it, the Pon pon pata pon gets caught in my head often.

Yes. Patapons story was the greatest storyline in a HANDHELD console game.

I dunno man, have you ever played Phoenix Wright or Hotel Dusk? I'd mark those two narratives as being in my top 5 of all games, ever.

Another great handheld game, that doesn't necessarily have a great story like HD or PW, but that uses narrative in a revolutionary way, is Elite Beat Agents, but it's no PW, and it's certainly no Hotel Dusk.

Yeah, Elite Beat Agents is on my list to get, but I've got other stuff to buy first.

Maybe if I get another job, and they let me play at work (not this on yur lunch break shit) then I'll bump it up in priority.

Phoenix Wright is the narrative equivalent to a Saturday morning cartoon show.

lost odyssey, i found it hard to put the controller down as the story was so compelling and the character development while cliche was brilliant, especially jansen.
