Bungie: "Could You Imagine The Xbox Or Xbox 360 Without Bungie’s Halo?"

Halo set Microsoft up in this business. It sold a ton of Xbox games, and more importantly, it sold a ton of Xbox consoles. Halo 2 did the same thing, Halo 3 did the same thing again, except this time for the 360. Everybody knows that. And if everybody knows that, you can bet Bungie know it, and community lead Brian Jarrard isn't shy about asking "Could you imagine the Xbox or Xbox 360 without Bungie’s Halo?":

Bungie knew that Halo was a fun game, a game we really liked, but had no idea it would turn into what it has become today, let alone single-handedly make or break Microsoft’s entry into the game console market.

Yeah, Bungie definitely know it.

Without Halo, the Xbox would've been another Neo Geo or 3DO. Lots of power and no support. Bungie made that console.

Yep. Without Halo, Microsoft's entry into the console market might have been a much different story. That's why MS went after Bungie hard when they saw the Mac/PC Halo demos... they knew that game was going to set a new standard for FPS play.

Halo was supposed to release for the Mac/PS2 before microsoft decided to come in

And microsoft had enough vision to buy them out and look at how much it benefitted them? Good move.

The answer is no ofcourse...

As bland as master chief is as a character, that series has loads of character and personality. And that personality has been tied to the xbox console.
