Forums - Sales Discussion - Pal Charts, Week 45: The battle of the titans - Gears 2 vs. LittleBigPlanet

seems like LBP is going to be big in Europe... good start..

Around the Network

If Gears 2 is doing as good in the UK as MrStickball said ioi said it was, that must mean LBP must be doing awesome too!

Or it could just be a huge space between first and second place... Who knows. >_>

Others numbers tonight, can't wait!

LBP debut isn't that great. Of course it could have no higher place in UK on individual chart but it's only on 4th in All-format chart, below Fifa 09 and Fallout 3. Estimated sales for Fallout 3 debut were at around 125k this week it could have sold half of it on LBP is even lower.

being right after GeOW2 is impressive in my view...

good score for layton in uk, it should do better in others than in us.

Go buy Metroid OTHER M!

So LBP may have sold just 50k in UK?

Looking at sales, you Brits know your games. LBP... 2nd behind GoW? not too shabby.

@Noobie: What about being after Fifa 09 (all formats) in its 6th week?

@shanbcn: I would say so. There is a margin of error in estimations (Fallout 3 last week sales are just estimated, its drop this week is a pure guess and we don't know how far is LBP from Fallout). Let's hope that ChartTrack blob will clear things a bit.

10/Nov/2008

Having scored a first All Formats No1 this year just 2 weeks ago with ‘Fable II’ on Xbox360, Microsoft are back on top with an even bigger 360 exclusive as ‘Gears Of War 2’ becomes the 3rd largest 360 week 1 title ever (behind GTA IV and Halo 3) and the 8th largest week 1 overall.

EA remain at No2 with steady sales of ‘FIFA 09’ (-1%) with Bethesda Softwork’s UK debut ‘Fallout 3’ dropping from No1 to No3 (-42%). Sony’s PS3 ‘LittleBigPlanet’ garnered very favourable reviews and debuts here at No4 and the big multi-format Christmas contender from THQ ‘WWE Smackdown Vs Raw 2009’ debuts at No5 with sales over 6 formats – PS3 and 360 virtually neck and neck with 34% and 33% of sales respectively. Nintendo’s new DS puzzler hoping to emulate the Kawashima’s makes an honourable start at No6. Also new this week is Activision’s ‘Guitar Hero: World Tour’ debuting at No17 and released for 360, PS3, Wii, PS2 as solus or with guitar SKU’s. Sony’s PS3 ‘Motorstorm: Pacific Rift’ debuts at No29 and Ubisoft’s ‘Tom Clancy Endwar’ is the last of the Top 40 new entries at No30 on 360/PS3/DS.
