Wait...so that Gamespot article...were they kidding because they didn't believe the Wii (Revolution) would do well at all?

Oh man...I've totally forgotten about pre-2006 E3 hehe.

I knew Gamespot was biased against Nintendo, but that article is ridiculous isn't it? I hope Nintendo completely rocks this generation till the end and forces them to fess up to their stupidity. Read some of those comments, almost the entire site was biased. Crazy.

The last part was at least a proper parody of fanboys.

BTW, I still say that review of Twilight Princess on the Wii isn't legit about the graphics. It was a port, not a remake. It really is no different than knocking VC games for their graphics, since they are essentially ports.

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

Plus, just for the hell of it: Kelly Brook at the 2008 BAFTAs

I knew that gamespot had biased reviews about the Wii. 8.8 for Zelda was harsh. What makes less sense is that the reviewer of the GC version stated that the Wii version was better gameplay wise, guess what. The GC version got a higher score. What's up with that? I've learned to take what they say with a grain of salt and consider the source.

In any case, both articles are pretty ironic considering recent events.

LOL Both the topic and the Gamespot article are pure gold (the Gamespot takes the cake by a small margin). Man it's not even been that long but it's hard to remember that only a couple years ago everyone expected the Wii to be the end of Nintendo.

That is the point. Zelda TP lost points because it was not so "next generation". Perfect Dark Zero wins points for its "incredible good looks". In the end PD got a 9.0 and have a editors choice stick.

Home Life Series? Job Training? Muttroid? Russian Hat Rack?

That's gold. You could slip "1000 NES Recipes" in there and it would fit right in.

"[Our former customers] are unable to find software which they WANT to play."
"The way to solve this problem lies in how to communicate what kind of games [they CAN play]."

Satoru Iwata, Nintendo President. Only slightly paraphrased.

That gamespot article is gold.
The article that the OP posted is pretty funny as well, how times have changed eh Nintendo?

What's more likely is that this was actually feelings of some of the people at Nintendo even way back then and with its existence in the ideas of some of the employees some of the editors decided to post it as an April Fools joke though they didn't know that one day it would grow to become a reality.

Well a lot of the Wii was returning to a strategy that once worked. And for NIntendo that was the NES. In many ways Wii is in essence the true successor to NES. I think Nintendo in a lot of ways modernized what made the NES so amazing and I think it's worked so far. Can't argue with these results. And no one can deny how amazing the NES was. Using the same strategy and ideals for Wii was not a bad idea at all.

Nintendo (or Sega, or Sony), back then, couldn't possibly fathom anyone playing a game where you have a virtual dog, so they never released a game like that. Then, through a big experiment (DS) they realized, Holy Shit, people BUY these games! And they buy about 14 million copies of it! WOOOOOOOOO!

Prediction!

Russiant Hat Rack coming to Wii to be announced at TGS.

Thanks to Blacksaber for the sig!
