Any gamer should know at least about the beauty that was the SNES...
Want to play with the Playstation 3 and its Dualshock 3 or Sixaxis??? or the 360 and its controller??? They're both inspired on the SNES controller...
The awesome RPGs of this generation??? SNES made that happen, SNES RPGs made possible the stories, the boards, long games, etc., if you're fan of Square Enix (separated at the time) then Chrono Trigger, Final Fantasy IV & VI, Super Mario RPG (yes, Ninty and Square did the unthinkable here), Star Ocean, Dragon Quest V, Terranigma, SoulBlazer, Secret of Mana, etc. a lot of them are having remakes now, which proves what the games are about, also RPGs like Shin Megami Tensei, Earthbound, Breath of Fire, etc. are really good...
FPS on consoles??? the Turbografx was the first but Doom on the SNES was the 1st one that really got near what the PC counterpart was offering, this was possible with the Super FX-2...
3D games on consoles??? Star Fox with the Super FX chip broke all the paradygms, because of the success of this game, the 3D genre in consoles started to rise...
Fighting Games on consoles instead of Arcade??? SNES got the genre to its extreme popularity, especially with Capcom's best-selling consumer game of all time: Street Fighter 2 (SNES version), also, it was home of the definitive version of Mortal Kombat II, Killer Instinct, and much more... The Megadrive, Neo Geo, Turbografx, etc., had their own ports and exclusives, but the SNES was the one that made the boom so games like Virtua Fighter, Tekken, Marvel vs Capcom, and even Super Smash Bros could exist...
I can name so much things that made the SNES revolutionary, but it's better that you see it for yourself if you own a Wii or simply get and emulator and ROMs...
Chrono Trigger which I imported for a ridicilous amount of money.. my mother was not happy.. so I better played it for a Looooong time...
and Street Fighter 2.. I remember that it wouldn't go any further then "fight 99".. played that a lot..

Mario Kart. Case closed. We were in our early-20s then, so of course we made a drinking game out of it.
