Forums - Nintendo - Consoles Tie Ratio. Wii stands better than you might think

Well I played a lot my psone demo disc a long time ago, does it count as a game? This argument "people play wiisports" is pretty stupid IMO...

..........I must defer to you in your area of expertise.

a.k.a. Strike Three. Thanks for definitively proving that none of us should waste anymore time on you.

Tremble, honestly stop it. Not counting wii play just because it does include a wiimote is as absurd as saying that you shouldn't count Guitar Hero because it includes a guitar.

Also, have you ever think that people can buy the wii mote sans game or that they want buy wii play AND the wiimote.

You hate the wii, fine. But don't tell lies specially lies that nobody buy even you. Honestly, GROW UP.

To the rest of you, just ignore tremble. He is a big waste of time.

Wii above ps3..... the so called arguments for certain fanboys keep falling down. What's the next excuse?????

Suppose (for a moment) that you don't include Wii Play, that drops the whole tie-ratio by (roughly) 0.5 games ... which is not that major of a change; it would give it the lowest tie-ratio, but when you consider the faster userbase growth, the "Better" software line-ups that HD-console fans constantly brag about, and the (supposedly) more "casual" userbase of the Wii it doesn't seem to be that big of a difference.

NPD does NOT include Wii Sports!

From PCworld.com, they also published this article and they are talking about the "wiisport and wiiplay case". Go check it^^

How about you look at the original article on Gamasutra instead of at PCWorld.com

If you read it carefully you would see the origin of their data comes from Nintendo's investor briefing. In that briefing Nintendo only reports the amount of first and third party sales in the US and uses NPD numbers for this. So basically the tie ratios are from NPD numbers which means it DOESN'T include Wii Sports. So basically Wii's tie ratio is much more impressive if you include WiiSports, since it would be almost on par with Xbox 360 then.

Tie ratios are fun to look at, but they don't mean much (except if you're a console maker collecting royalties of course).

What publishers care about is development cost and absolute sales potential. Both of those have little to do with the tie ratio.

My Mario Kart Wii friend code: 2707-1866-0957

one thing to note it the wii still has the lowest third party tie ratio according to this graph.

150vg$ bet(with haggy) mk wii 2009 worldwide sales > any 360/ps3 game released in 2009.

current mk wii worldwide sales (jan 9th): 553k

So, if I buy FFXII for 7 bucks, it's not counted as a sale?
