Forums - Gaming - Gran Turismo vs Forza

Damage is not always an improvement, I would consider that a taste thing (I'm not big on damage unless its a game like burnout paradise that is based around it. In one of those 24 hour all night races in GT the last thing I want to be thinking about is whether I need to take my car to the shop if I graze a wall on lap 231).

As to the online play prologue has it and so will GT5. In terms of car selection, customization, track selection and actual driving along with so many other things GT just has a huge edge. I think the numbers kind of bear that out as well, I mean any one version of GT has sold more then all versions of Forza combined.

When we're talking racing SIMS, damage is as important as anything else. A damage system makes it necessary to corner with absolute perfection, which is what a race driver does in real life. The customization options are cool but add lesser to the actual feel of the game than a constant fear of crashing out of the race.

As a whole GT series is bigger then FM series. GT 1-3 has no real competitors and manage to create a lot of fans of the series. After FM came out GT start to loose steam. Forza was better in some areas, while GT4 in others.
If we look only on this gen. Forza 2 is the only full game out and IMO is better then GT5P. Yes I know GT5P is not a full game, but it is the only real Forza 2 competitor right now. Only after GT5 is out we can say which one is better, but at that time I think it will be GT5 vs Forza 3. So Forza 2 is in a win/win situation.

Wut? Million is that you? Are you ok?

Current-gen game collection uploaded on the profile, full of win and good games; also most of my PC games. Lucasfilm Games/LucasArts 1982-2008 (Requiescat In Pace).

I have no idea why this is even a question. It's like lets argue football, who is better, the Titans at 8 and 0 or the lions at 0 and 8, go!

The Gran Turismo games always have been the gold standard of racing games with insane amounts of cars, tracks, the best graphics and....everything else. There is simply no comparison, the various xbox racing games are also rans every time.

There is not a single feature in any Xbox racing game that is an improvement on the GT series, not one.

You've obviously never played a Forza game. Damage, online, the paint editor, screenshots, etc. etc. etc.

Forza made some serious leaps over the GT series when it released. It's still lacking in some regards, but it blew GT out of the water in some aspects.

Personally, my preference is for Forza simply because GT5 isn't out. Forza 2 had one of the best online communities I've ever seen.

The ball is definitely in Polyphony's court at this point. They have a lot to live up to after Forza 2. Sure, their game might be prettier but there's a lot more to a racing game than that. I expect full customization of cars (inside and out), a well-rounded online system, an interactive website to compare/compete with friends, official tournaments, etc. etc. etc.

It seems as if many of you want this genre to remain stagnant just so your precious Gran Turismo doesn't look bad. Sad. Damned fanboys... You should appreciate the competition Forza has brought to the table. Polyphony, instead of sitting on their hands as they did from GT2-4, now has to up the ante to keep up with the expanded feature set brought in by Turn 10.

Gran Turismo is far bigger, so probably far better
