Thanks for all the info, y-koron.

Congrats for becoming a mod. You deserve it.

I agree Dewy should have been released other day. Anyways Konami seems to be the japanese company less interested on Wii... Maybe because of Sony owning a chunk of their stock.

Ahh, that's the sort of explanation I am after...

And did Forever Blue get released this week as well? For some reason I thought it was a next-week release.

Its insane to release so many titles at the same time... (esp. For Ninty to compete against their own titles).

QFT, I didn't get this at all. I can understand releasing polar opposite titles when it makes sense but in general I would avoid multiple releases like this.

Thing about Dewy... If it came out in a week with no big releases, and sold even 3 times as much... People would say "why didn't Konami release this in a week with a big game, to capitalize off higher system sales!"

The game bombed, which is too bad. But you can't necesarily second guess the release week.

HSG keeping up with MP8 would be pretty impressive, given the install base differential.

"[Our former customers] are unable to find software which they WANT to play."
"The way to solve this problem lies in how to communicate what kind of games [they CAN play]."

Satoru Iwata, Nintendo President. Only slightly paraphrased.

I really am curious on how to become a mod...but getting on topic, I expect that mario paryty 8 will sell better than hsg5 for the simple reason that the wii has a much larger install base than the ps3. Maybe HSG will crack at 300k, but mario party will likely sell at the least 400k.

Dewy (Wii) : less than 1k

 You suck, Japan.

I don't know who Dewy appeals too, I think it's horribly niche and was never going to sell well in the first place.

These are first day, typically sales don't behave like past and Wii games sell way more on weekends... next week will be interesting.

@Origen, you think it is that casual gamers wait for weekends? That would be a good explanation.

I would cite regulation, but I know you will simply ignore it.

First, people are jabbing at Nintendo for few 3th party exclusive inovatif titels!...

Konami gets to the job and gets us Elebits!... A game which i enjoyed but didn't make GREAT numbers.

(It did good overall, fact).

Then they nab up that same team to get us Dewy's adventure, looking good! A little, Kiddy ... But the gameplay sure looks good!... People want those games, they were beggin Nintendo for a long time!... And when they finally get it, they DON'T FREAKIN BUY IT!... WTF?! Less then 1k!!!... WTF... Buy the FREAKIN GAME JAPANESE FOLKS!... GET IT... NOW!...

Btw: I think Mario party 8 is gonna beat HSG5 in the long run... Why?!

-PS3 games tend to decline really fast because of the Hardcore audience, which means most of the people purchase it immediately if they feel like getting the game.

-PS3 has a small userbase still. It is hard to get a game selling over 300k with a userbase of ~1 mil. That'd be an attachratio of ~30%. So good luck to get any higher than that!

And... Mario party 8 million seller in the making?! Cuz those freakin Mini/PArty-games have long legs, sadly!... Those games shouldn't motivate more mini/party-games (But hey... This is the king of Mini/Party-games... It's freakin Mario party. So this may make 1 mil! BUT DON'T BUY OTHER PARTY GAMES FOR WII... CUZ IT ONLY MOTIVATES DEVS TO DEVELOP CRAP SHITTY GAMES!

Couldn't agree with you more really. Plus I can also be frustrated about the fact gamers are ranting there should be more 3rd party games on the WII and once they get there, they hardly buy it, except DQS.

just to know your opinion...how many PS3 should be sold this week in order to consider HSG5 a system seller?

Well this depends what you mean. To me if a new game gets a couple of thousand consoles sold, then I would consider it a system seller. But this type of sales increase fades very quickly so it's not about to save a system with poor sales.

So I think HSG will be a system seller but not a system saver. I hope that makes sense =)

i just wanted to know what kind of result would be considered satisfactory in terms of enlarging userbase...and if i'm not wrong form you statement i can conclude that in order to be considered a system seller this game has to keep PS3 sales over 25k per week for a couple of months or so
