Games in those genres have next to no chance of ever winning any GOTY award. That's just the way it is.

Please tell me you're joking. Please. I'll narrow it down to three, from most to least likely

PS3: MGS4, GTA4, LBP

X360: Gears 2, GTA4, Fallout 3

PC: Fallout 3, Crysis Warhead, Sins of a Solar Empire

DS: TWEWY, umm.... 

PSP: Chains of Olympus, Crisis Core, Portable Ops

Wii: Brawl, Mario Kart Wii, Okami

GoTY: MGS4, GTA4, Gears 2, LBP, Fallout 3

-10 points for saying the MGS game that hardly had Solid Snake in it was better than Gears (3 being an exception... Naked Snake *chuckles*)

you're all wrong... Fable 2 is going to get it hahahaha... I laugh, now, but I wouldn't be surprised if it did... in the end the score isn't what makes a game GotY... it's all the things that happened with the game... MGS4 was a massive PS3 game... it shouldn't even come close to losing to LBP on the PS3 when it comes to GotY... everything about it live up to expectation.. even as a system seller.

I have to agree with you on Brawl- some people are going to give it awards- but Mario Kart Wii is unlikely and LOL at Wii Fit. If they didn't give game of the year to Eyetoy Play, why would they give it to Wii Fit? Maybe 'most healthy game' or something...

But of the ones you mentioned, I think only Brawl is really a contender for Game of The Year. Not a major contender like GTA4 or MGS4, but still a contender.

Please don't use metacritic scores as a measure of how well a game will do. Diablo II, with an 88 on metacritic, got Game of The Year 2000 in the Interactive Achievement Awards.

Of course, Gamespot and IGN awards will be loosely based on their own scores, but not entirely. Look to 2001 for Gamespot:

Pro Skater 3: 10/10

Halo: Combat Evolved: 9.7/10

Grand Theft Auto III: 9.6/10, Game of The Year 2001
