I'd probably pick one up once the price is lower. Not sure what the sweet spot for me would be but it would also depend if I picked up a 360 first. The PS3 will do well and sell a lot of systems eventually but it won't be until the price comes down once or twice. At that point though, the PS3 will have no chance of ever catching the Wii and they will still only sell a little more than the 360.

X360 had a massive price cut and almost nothing at all happened so why with PS3 would be different? This generation already has a wiiner, game over for PS3. By the time PS3 be like 200-250 how far cheaper the Wii360 will be?

If it were to happen in 2009 regardless what "Other" consoles "May" drop in price a 200 dollar price tag on a PS3 SKU of any kind would sell like a dollar double cheese burger from mc donalds... alot.

IF it ever gets to that price at all.

They might do a MS move and introduce a PS4 early which is more profitable and positions them better going forward instead of continuing to support a system that's in 3rd (maybe 2nd one day) place and a drain on profit.

But if they could drop the price today to $200, then yeah, they'd sell a hell of a lot more.

Also, even if the others are cheaper, ~250 is the magic price for consoles. Cheaper is better of course, but there are a lot of people who simply can't afford more than that, or won't afford it, if you catch my drift.

Since the start of this gen Sony fanboys have been doing nothing but imagining. Unfortunately, losses and loss of market share are a reality for Sony and not something in the imagination of Wii and 360 fans. But I guess there is no harm in a group continuing to dream instead of facing reality.

You might be thinking of Pachters "75% of console sales are at $199 or less" bullshit... which is, well, bullshit because he basically used only the PS2 to figure this out. The PS3 is not the PS2.

In 2009 PS3 sells rufly 12 mill @ $300
In 2010 PS3 sells rufly 13 mill @ $250
In 2011 PS3 sells rufly 12.5 mill @ $200
In 2012 PS3 sells rufly 8.5 mill @ $175
