Wasn't the 49k shipment for the single game? At least that was the impression I got from the fact first day sales said the 21k games sold was a 43% sellthrough without taking the 7k DS3 bundles into account.

 

Maybe, if so that means it only sold around 2/3 of it's shipment, so a little less hope if that's the case.

seriously, if they shipped 49k and 47 was sold then it was probably sold out at many shops.

next week will definitely be the tell-tale of LBP.

not really... it had a nice one two punch with GTA4 and LBP... both did well and probably sold systems

Well, the Playstation 3 had Little Big Planet, GTA IV, Socom, a new version of Gran Turismo and the new 80GB SKU.

I wasn´t online a lot last week but I don´t understand why some of you guys are surprised by the sales of the system? I mean did some of you guys really expect less than 25,000 units?

Will be interesting to see next week's hardware sales. The new X360 bundles launch (could that of caused lower HW sales this week?), and we see the after effects of the PS3 bundles and such.

Will the PS3 shed 50% of it's hardware sales next week? If so, it's not a good sign. Otherwise, a very good week for them.

Dropping 50% would still be double what PS3 usually sells. This week's sales are just pent up demand from people waiting for the 80Gb bundle. I doubt there will be anymore long term demand for the 80Gb than there was for the 40Gb. Sales will be higher than usual for the next couple of months anyway due to the time of year, but I expect PS3 will be back down to around 10k by the end of January.
