Forums - Sales - The latest hardware figures from Japan (Famitsu)

Nice boost for the PS3, but the same statement as always applies... what consoles need is momentum, not spikes in the sales graph. Sony needs all the sales it can get in Yen as opposed to the falling €/$ though, so that's definitely good news for them.

LBP did pretty bad, and must have sold very few PS3 bundles too. I doubt many bought GT5Ps3 on it's own, so nearly all PS3s sold were the GT5Ps3 bundles. Maybe 3k LBP bundles means LBP sold a further 15k after 29k first day sales. That's pretty front loaded, so doesn't give much hope that it will have great legs.

PS3 hardware is good though, a little higher than I was expecting. It basically just erased 360's gain over the last two months.

360 hardware still holding up well, is 6k it's new standard level, or did it get boost from GTA IV this week? Something to keep an eye on for the next two weeks before Last Remnant releases.

Decent GTA IV numbers, inline with my expectations

Wii Music doesn't have the legs of the other Wii titles, sold just over half of it's initial shipment after three weeks, will take another seven weeks at this rate, but it's dropped by 50% each week, so could take a lot longer if it hasn't bottomed out yet.

Good start for DSi, but we already knew that.

Not really sure how you can call it "great for PS3". They sold 35k with a lot of new games and a lot of new bundle deals. The ironic thing is if you brought that ratio and used it in say the european or american markets you would not be saying it did great. It is the same as LBP. Im not sure you can say a game that sold nearly 50k did great. GTA4 combined sold 136k, so you can't say "western style games don't sell there" as they obviously do if you use GTA4 as the example.

Seeing GTA4 1st and 4th in Japan with solid numbers is a great feat for Rockstar. 360 still around the 6k mark a lot better then this time last year but nowhere near the others. Wii sales continuing to come down.

Xbox might take some gain back with TLR though.

And PS3 has some losses to get back to from Europe and the US in order to erase the gain entirely (which looks a bit hard to accomplish)

Oh, I forgot that Sinobi said the initial shipment was 49k. There's still hope for LBP then :).

Is it just me or does this remind anyone of last year, so now we are going to get wii is doomed again?

If you don't remember last year PS3 beat Wii for the month of November.

Yeah, 360 will get a boost that week, but will probably be cancelled out when Winning Eleven releases the following week, PS2 version isn't being released until next year.

As for Europe and US, this is a Famitsu thread.

Wasn't the 49k shipment for the single game? At least that was the impression I got from the fact first day sales said the 21k games sold was a 43% sellthrough without taking the 7k DS3 bundles into account.

anyway good number for PS3, also xbox 360 have very stable 6K-7K for 7 week, until TLR
