Forums - Sony - MGS4 : the same old crappy gameplay with better visuals ?

Oh and Vizunary, for the record the best stealth game is Beyond Good and Evil, at least as far as overall game quality goes.

ahhh, you bastard, I will now pretend I never played that game and know not what you speak of =p

Honestly, nothing compares to MGS for me. I missed 2 days of work when MGS3 came out, i even spent $300 to get a Solid Snake tat on my leg(it looks like Vamp might be going on next)............. i know, i know, i have issues, no need to point.

lol

Guys it's the last game in the series. That means it doesn't actually matter how good the game is, just how good people think the game will be, which is largely based on the previous game, graphics, and other marketing, which will all be top-notch. Because even if it's a bad game (and it won't be) millions of people will buy it anyway, and just be turned off of the series -- except there won't be a sequel, so there's no need to hook people into buying it by making the current version stellar.

Think Spiderman 3. ;> (the movie :P)

^-- The above is pure speculation.

I have put this title, particularly the word "crap", because the author was quite angry about MGS non-evolution, and particularly about the "old" gameplay.
Personnaly, I found the author quite hard with MGS4 since we know that the gameplay has been improved (as saied Nonquihote).

About the game sales :
Since all the MGS get good review, I believe this one will have too
+ hype with amazing trailer
+ final sequel
+ more action oriented gameplay (see demo ...)

I predict it will sell very well.

Time to Work !

lol, yeah and of course people's opinions differ.  I love MGS's plot and Music, just never been that attached to the gameplay.  I have yet to meet someone who has played Beyond Good and Evil and denied it's greatness.

What I find funny about exclusiveness is that it has a double standard. Sites say that GTA IV exclusive content is only for the 360, but then they say that it could change, considering that "exclusive" doesn't mean much these days. However, when MGS4 gets 'confirmed' exclusive, the same sites say "Well, that settles it. No MGS4 for 360."

I call that Microsoft bias! The rules somehow change when it comes to Microsoft since they have so many people that hate their company.

Love the product, not the company. They love your money, not you.

libellule thanks for shraing it buddy thas ur opnion and is pointless just like the opnion i have for what u said about the MGS4.............. which is i can come up with so many reason to why MGS4 is fine or will be way batter than its previous version am not gonna do that cause ur already convinced on this so ill just say that no one has seen the whole game there is more coming out and there is no reason to bash ps3 cause its just a blue ray player when its a game system with blue-ray build in and that its just a overated blue ray player..........and i can probably copy and paste most of ur words and way to explain to describe halo3 that is the biggest game this year for 360 but if u wanna talk about history let talk facts Halo 1 and 2 is 14.69mil copies (according to VG) First two MGS combines nearly 11million copies and witht the third it went over 15million.....so if u wanna look at the facts on paper MGS is the same or if anything batter than that game......OH OH bye the way Halo 3 is also same gameplay and just more colors........so how come ur not writing about that game??? anywazz am out

Really? Never played BG&E before, but the stealth is that good?

Have you tried Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory? If so, how does that compare to BG&E?

Edit: I would be more partial to MGS if they changed the controls which I felt were kinda wonky in MGS2, but as ckmlb stressed, for MGS4 they have tightened the controls where it worked before and overhauling the controls where they were iffy before - that sounds good in my book, and hopefully will change the gameplay to something more to my liking.

If you look at it from a company's perspective, hype is more important than gameplay. An extremely hyped sucky game sells great. A great unknown brand sells mediocre.

Hype drives sales and reviews so much these days that you see some really crazy things going around. The first one I saw was when gamespot gave twilight princess a low score. Fans everywhere bashed gamespot to death without ever having played the game. The second one I see right now is Killzone. Many people state that it will be a game of the year even though the first one wasn't that great. What drives these random acts? Hype!

With that said, it may seem that hype by itself is a bad thing. But the problem that can happen is a game not have enough hype before it comes out. Something like Okami. Then a great game doesn't sell as well as it should because it is unknown.

Hyping a game so that people want it no matter if it is good or not is evil. But for cases like Okami, it is a necessary evil. So I wouldn't bashing an overhyped game. Specially in the case of a franchise that has proven itself and is still using the same team as before.

Holy crap, this thread is going to detonate. Between the thread title and people acknowledging said title and then continuing to debate it... oh boy.
