Good point. Let's make that $20 per copy and Capcom is only left with the money to fund another two games of the scope of Zack & Wiki. |
Yeah, like Wii Biohazard.

Everytime the Wii beats the PS3 in weekly sales I imagine you looking at it and scream "Nooooooooooooo!!!". |
You imagine me?

You do realize wiisports sold the wii, not the otherway around. That's truely a powerful game.
and this quote:
As opposed to what exactly? There isn't really much quality 3rd party to choose from and they certainly don't stand up to what nintendo develops. |
it's been proven and discussed over and over and over...
3rd party games DO sell very well on Wii. Lego Batman, Star War Force Unleashed, Guitar Hero, Rock Band, Lego Star Wars, Mario&Sonic, Sonic & the Rings, Madden, PES, Tiger Woods, Rock Band, RE UC, RE 4, We Ski, Rayman 1 and 2, Red Steel,Sega Superstars Tennis, DBZ BT 2 and 3, Top Soin 3, and many other say hi !
some games DO bomb... as well as on other systems.
As for Disaster, it's not been tracked, that's all.

Yeah, cuz Capcom pocket all the cash handed over to the retailers! |
My bad, forgot to factor the maufacturing and retailer costs, so we're looking at 30/copy. So that's 12 mil. So in other words, it further makes HD development selling the same amount of copies unprofitable, as opposed to tripling money on a Wii development. In the end, the result is the same. Unless you are guaranteed to sell 1 mil plus copies, HD development is very risky. As of the last sales charts, the Wii and XB360 are tied with games that have topped a mil, both at 13 titles and the PS3 was at 7 or 8. By those numbers to actual games released ratio, that means that there's a lot of HD games that fell by the wayside and lost money in the development process.

Anyway, Capcom made it clear that they are VERY happy about RE 4 Wii and RE UC, ZAck&Wiki sales.
Also, Nintendo stated that Disaster's sale in Japan were what was expected (for instance, more than Baten Kaitos, if you mind)
Every time a game comes out for the wii and doesn't do well in sales people fall back on the old "it will have strong legs" argument, and the "wii games are not as expensive to make so it will make a profit".
Its getting kinda old...just admit a game bombed and move on.
Also, people with zero knowledge of the videogaming business posting financial numbers for games is hillarious.
@bardicverse: are u sure about the 30$ stuff? Cause i think it's way too much. taxes, shipment, translation, nintendo royalties, ads, retailers... would only count for 20$?

I'm guessing that was a dig at bardicverse? I.e. the only person in this thread who's actually a game developer? If not, ignore this post.
As to the topic, I'm sad to say that it seems like Tremble might be right about this game's sales (The rest? Not so much. Capcom, for example, has publicly said they're happy with most of their Wii sales, and methinks they're more knowledgable on that topic than any of us, no?). It doesn't seem to be selling well at all, as his sources show. There's an outside chance it's doing decently in Europe...but I wouldn't bet a nickel on it. Which sucks, because I'm actually interested in playing it.
