Forums - Gaming - Which company makes better western rpgs: Bethesda or Bioware?

Bioware by a mile, even if it was only Baldur's Gate they'd made (which it isn't). Bethesda are good enough to entertain me but not mesmerize and enthrall me like Bioware (Fallout 3 was something of a letdown).

Bioware by far. Bethesda games always seem great on paper to me but when I play them, I always seem to get bored. The most disappointing Bioware game I played was Jade Empire. I still liked that game a lot though. Oblivion was the most disappointing Bethesda game I played and that game bored me to tears.

Then you'll hate Fallout 3, its basically the same game with a different setting.

BioWare by far!
Baldur's Gate, MDK 2, Mass Effect - great games!

Well I agree in some points with Shio, Obsidian is slightly better than Bioware (Kotor 2 > Kotor) and CDProjekt made a great RPG last year, The Witcher. Though I wouldn´t directly compare MMORPGs with offline RPGs, they offer quite a different experience.

Bioware pisses all over Bathesda.

i choose bethesda

i puke at the sound of someone saying mass effect.

Please enlighten me. Why is Mass Effect so bad? Because it's not on the PS3?

I think Bioware is still better, but I agree with his view on mass effect.  It was a decent game with so many flaws that it's not anywhere as amazing as most people make it out to be.  The only time it's not completely and insanely repetitive is if you only play the main story and that by itself is very short.  None of the planets are original.  They all have the same "dungeons" and all of the bad guys are in the exact same rooms.  They're all the same bland rock with some color changes and none of them had any life whatsoever.  They should have just left half of the planets out of the game if they didn't want to really create new ones.  Instead they just took shortcuts left and right which really destroyed the quality of their product.  The gravity is always the exact same and driving is a bitch.  The game is full of really bad filler (to make up for it's shortness) and is glitchy as hell.

The game is still an excellent game, but I don't understand why people think a game with so many issues is such a masterpiece.

And for christ's sake someone tell me how one of the fastest ships in the universe could have the slowest elevator in existence?  Did they really need to do that for loading in that tiny ass ship?

Obsidian/Black Isle Studios.

I'm sorry, but that's the only answer anyone who has played their games, in good conscience, can give.

I doubt that he's even played the game.

OT: Bioware is better than Bethesda. Lionhead is better than both.

Bethesda or Bioware?

This is like comparing Britney Spears to Beethoven.

Minsc & Boo, Morte and HK-47...for those characters alone I'd say Bioware.

But in my opinion we are arguing over the differences between supercars here...you may prefer one over another, but they are both still pretty damn good rides.
