Forums - Nintendo - So, I find myself addicted to Wii Music.

4 games.... 4 games for my birthday this year, and I get addicted to wii music. Fable 2, Fallout 3, LittleBigPlanet, and Wii Music. I shouldn't be surprised, I support all the Wii Series titles, but out of all of em. I didn't imagine wii music to be the one I play the most.

When I put it in, I wanted to demostrate it to my father-in-law. He is a musician and loves making and tinkering with music, to the point he has his own personal music studio in his basement. Fine and dandy, I figure. I'll throw 20 minutes in it just to give him a bit of a demo of some cool songs I can make and Its back to Fable II or Fallout 3.

Boy was I wrong.

The game surprised me with its difficulty, where I figure I'll spend 20 minutes making a complete part. I struggled in 20 minutes to make Twinkle Twinkle Star sound more than a, excuse my terminology. Crapfest. Obviously I was a bit zealous in my first attempt, so I tried again with a similar result. My father-in-law decided as a musician he has to have a go at it, dispite not being a gamer. His attempt faired better than my own. Indeed quite surprising.

I'll admit something here, I only browsed skyrender's review. IGN's didn't impress me too much and I didn't know alot of the mechanics of gameplay. While I figured my wiimote might be a bit rusty from a weak battery pack. A quick check ensured I was wrong, so the next logical step is human error.

I was right, after taking the lessons on my own. I found a vast improvement on my skill, although it was enough to make the songs sound like songs, I soon found out the challange of the game.

Yes there is no win or lose, the goal is to further yourself and become better at it.

A worthy goal if I say so myself, as I played I found myself thinking about alot of the philosophy of my games. I beat fable 2 in a day, and fallout 3 in 2 days. Would I play these games again? Most likely not, I could have rented them for the experience and gave em back to save 50 bucks. But Wii music is different, without the presure of winning or losing the player is free to set their own limits. Hardcore or not...

There will always be another step to take, there's no end goal. Just what you can create next, and share with your friends. This game is exactly what games need to become, something that is truly enjoyable. I've spent too long sucking the enjoyment out of the game just to see the ending, or just to get to one point or another. But with a game that doesn't let me do that, I can really see the enjoyment for what it is.

It doesn't matter if this game sells well or not, it truly is something magnificent to behold. I salute you miyomoto for creating something so beautiful.

So far I've spent 15 hours playing the game over the last 2 days since I got it. With most wii series, I only play 30 minutes a day, tops. I don't even play wii sports or wii play anymore, this one however has got my attention; it'll have my attention for awhile too even once my playtime dwindles to 30 minutes a day.

You unrythmic Mii, you'll get better. I swear it!

I don't have videos to upload for you guys btw, or else I would. My capture card isn't cooperating well with my wii, or... with anything. I think its time to get a newer model, mine's too old.

Why must JRPG female leads suck so bad?

Whoa, glad you enjoyed it. I may pick this up sometimes, but it doesn't really fit my tastes so I'll think about it.

Also, Happy Birthday!

Every game is great when it's new and shiny. That's why it's best to wait until the initial rush/newness has run out otherwise you end up gushing over a game you like at first but find yourself disliking later on down the line.

Prepare to be thrown into exile by the Hardcore Gestapo for suggesting Wii Music is deeper then Fallout 3 and Fable 2. =P

Seriously, glad you’re having a good time. I’ve only gotten in a little playtime with Wii Music so far, but I already got the same vibe you did of constantly challenging yourself to improve. It’s similar to how I feel when I’m editing video, except a lot more fun. I like guitars and Violin the most.

Great to read that you are enjoying yourself, i'd be picking this one up too if I had a greater creative interest in music, and i might still get it a little further down the road

It's kind of like E.T. for the Atari. It's supposed to be the worst game ever made but I kind of want to play it.

I feel the same kind of draw towards Wii Music at least in the sense that the reviews have not all be kind. I'm not saying that it's a terrible game, but perhaps an acquired taste.

If I get through the games that I just recently bought (RB2, Fable 2, LBP, N:UNS, Valkyria Chronicles) then I'll probably give it a shot.
