If this were true, I'd have been a killer since age 3...

Violence and video-games. People don't get tired, heh?
Kids are not violent because of videogames, or movies or music... they are violent because violence is and has always been realy fun, especialy if you ARE a kid. We are born with that. If you never taught a kid that hurting others is wrong (most efectively by beating the little bastard when he does) he would become a jerk when he grew up.
Deep down, I believe we are all a bunch of murderers...
If videogames, or songs or movies are enough to push you over the edge, you're the one with the problem, not the video-games...
Quem disse que a boca é tua?
Qual é, Dadinho...?
Dadinho é o caralho! Meu nome agora é Zé Pequeno!

I have always maintained that violent video games cause an increase in agression. I should note, however, that this is not exclusive to video games. For example, people who listen to violent lyrics often show an increase in agression. It baffles me as to why video gamers are unable to admit this.

If things were this simple then people who listen to Barry White would fornicate all day long and kids who watch Sesame Street would be obssessed with counting vampires and yellow birds. Society has nuances which cannot be ignored for the sake of making entertainment products look bad.

Yes, things are not that simple. I believe the examples you note support my argument. Barry White may not compel people to fornicate, but his music titillates certain people. Sesame Street may not cuase children to be obsessed with vampires or yellow birds, but its content causes some children to learn. I did not say video games cause people to murder, highjack vehicles, or commit other heinous actions. I simply stated that they cause an increase in agression.
Aggression isn't a bad thing. Violent action is however, and no game on earth has ever been proved capable of forcing someone to do that. There are so many flaws with this kind of argument it's astonishing that it is still allowed by these old, out of touch polititions. It's 2008 and we still live in a society where soldiers, people paid to ACTUALLY kill people, are treated like heroes but we are supposed to accept video games will turn wide eyed kids into vicious attackers?
I DO call bullshit on that. If we were to accept the possibility, then we'd need to do the same for anything that could have an effect of people, which means all of entertainment and pretty much most of politics and national policy. The fact that the anti video games lobby never change from their hypocritical stance renders their points permanently invalid in my eyes.
Will you teach me to football?

Disagree, they are different points. Barry White music titillating people is not the same. The same would be someone who listened to Barry White being more sexually active in life, in general. People can be aggressive 'while' gaming as people can be ore in the mood 'while' listening to Barry White. The effect doesn't stay with you forever.

I never said it stays with people forever, nor did I say that people commit acts of violence because of video games. I said video games will cause aggression levels to increase for certain individuals, and Barry White's music causes certain individuals to become aroused. I understand why you would not understand what I was conveying as the differentiation can be mildly confusing.
