RUMOUR : Metal Gear Solid 4 - Extended Ending Coming in December?

Shortly after the release of Metal Gear Solid 4 (PS3) on 12th June 2008 a rumour surfaced saying that a new extended ending would be released exactly six months after the games release, no details were mentioned about what this extended ending would contain, but at the end of MGS4 Old Snake says that he has six months left to live.

So six months of Snake’s life from 12th June 2008 would bring it to 12th December 2008 which is exactly when this extended ending is rumoured to be released, expect this to be released as an update patch that you will have to download via the PlayStation Network or it could even be a code that unlocks the extended ending as the video could already be on the MGS4 Blu-Ray disc.

But until this information is confirmed by Konami or Kojima Productions it will remain as a rumour and unconfirmed, even though this would make a good new feature to the game.

Other new features that people would like to see (including me) are:

  • New Co-op Game(s) (Maybe a Seperate Storyline/Gameplay featuring 2-8 players)
  • Trophy Support
  • Boss Suvival Mode
  • Demo Theater
  • New Weapons
  • New Items
  • VR Missions
  • Raiden Game (Maybe a Storyline/Gameplay to take place between MGS2 and MGS4 - 5 year gap)
  • Snake Game (Maybe a Storyline/Gameplay to take place between MGS2 and MGS4 - 5 year gap)

AWESOME, right? This is truly one of the best games this gen, and this can only make it better!

I say it's likely. Of course, it's still a rumor, so anything can happen.

What would you like to see in an expansion to MGS4? I'd like:

-Trophy Support

-Offline Multiplayer (perhaps an Arena mode?)

-New Missions

-Something to show what happened between 2009 and 2014

-A 'story so far'

-A cutscene theatre so you can choose which cutscene to watch, when.

Sorry if this has already been posted.

EDIT: Spoilers hidden. Sorry about that.

EDIT 2: I suppose the picture is a spoiler as well. Don't click the link unless you have finished MGS4, I've removed the picture from this post.

Hmm. It seems to be old news, but it's resurfacing. When can we expect an announcement confirming/denying this?

Could be MGS4: Existance, seeing as that this was trademarked so soon after the game came out.

Could be the infamous MGS4: 360 that all the 360 fans are hoping for.

Anybody else have an opinion on this?

Will it be DLC or a new disc edition?

Ugh there is a spoiler in the article.

I'd say its a patch update of some sort via PSN or an auto download/install.

I say it can be both. In the past, games like Substance and Subsistence have appeared, being extended versions of MGS2 and MGS3. However, this is the first Sony console where it is possible to include DLC.

Plus, they could put a nice *Game of The Year 2008* badge on the front and back cover, maybe even call it a GoTY edition.

According to DMJ, it'll be called Existence. That'd look pretty cool. Have a different cover, with "Game of The Year Edition" at the top, like COD4, and have Metal Gear Solid 4: Existence at the bottom.

What happens when you put your PS3 date on the day (you know what I am talking about)?

In MGS2/3 other things happened when you put the date on a special day. I thought in MGS2 Otacon calls you when it is your birthday.

Wow, a huge spoiler pic in the source. I can't believe they did it.

I don't think this is true. Well, the expansion at least - a new ending might be, though I'm skeptic about it, too, as it is based on a very bad source.
