Valkyria Chronicles and Kill Zone 2 are the 2 games tempting me to get a PS3. I probably will get one at some stage and then LBP and R&C will also end up in my library.

IMO spoken like a true closed minded console fanboy. I bought a N64 for Mario64, bought a Snes for Super Mario World, bought 2 DSes for New Super Mario Bros (and still loving it when travelling with my girlfriend) bought a XBox 360 for Kameo, bought a gaming PC for Quake, etc. Apart from the 360 I bought I was never unhappy about buying these consoles for those great games. I know various people who upgraded their PCs for much more money than a gamigs console costed at the time just to play Doom, Half-Life 2 or Crysis properly. Personally I think it's perfectly fine to do so and is none of your business. They may have a bigger budget than you have or simply think the game in question is that good, worthy of buying a console for. Both Resistance 2 (endless 8 player co-op and 60 player squad battles) and LittleBigPlanet (user created content) can easily provide hundreds of hours of fun entertainment, who do you think you are? |
So true. I bought a PS2 because I saw a commercial of Final Fantasy X. I needed that game!
I bought a 360 only for Lost Odyssey back in February with pretty much zero interest of buying other games. Yes, now I picked up more games, but that pretty much always happens eventually.
I am now a 360 fanboy?
Sorry Twesterm, but that makes no sense. People buy things because they want to, simple as that.
Not everything in gaming has some form of "fanboyism" behind it. Personally I am saddened when people seem to think this is the case.
I guess to not be considered a fanboy you must buy a system and tons of games.
iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.
Currently playing:
Final Fantasy VI (iOS), Final Fantasy: Record Keeper (iOS) & Dragon Quest V (iOS)

Nope I bought the PS3 because I blindly believe that Sony can make the PS3 into a brilliant console :)
Serious Twesterm X_X???
If you really want a game but it is on a platform you don't like and you don't buy it = fanboy. IMO.

That can be a good reason as well, going by track record, multi-media features, technical specifications and such. Early adopters are very important to drive progress for a console. Rome wasn't built in a day. Some people like to be part of something special right from the beginning, others will want to wait for everything to be paved.
But probably most people will however wait for their killer game to arrive (or costs to come down, slimline version, etc) when thinking about buying a game console.
I have no interest in resistance or gears or the conduit, but I have always loved platformers. I love Super Mario World and Super Mario Bros 3. I have even designed my own Super Mario World levels using Lunar Magic. Little Big Planet looks like the prefect game for me.
I am not buying a PS3 "just" for Little Big Planet, but if the game didn't exist I wouldn't but a PS3. So technically I am buying a PS3 for LBP.

I don't like the way you phrased it, but I agree with you exactly. Especailly about the hundereds of hours of content. I know some people who only have guitar hero 3, Madden 2008, halo 3, and CoD4 for their 360 after owning it for several years. They have Xbox live and play halo 3/ CoD4 online almost every day, and play madden/guitar hero when friends come over. Theres nothing wrong with buying a system for a few games if the games are that good.
I'll buy a PS3 for this:
- Shadow of the Colossus 2
- Heavy Rain
- Gran Turismo 5
- Resident Evil 5-6
- Free online gaming
- *uck blu ray. DVD stills rulling my place.
Neither. I bought it for multiple games and it's features, LBP was just one of the many factors.
