LOL. Yeah your topic just went 'Broadside' :D On topic I will probably by a PS3 soon as my brother already has a 360...sorted.

Good to see this site is still going

First post, weeeeee.

Okay seriously, my friend whom had his 360 since lanch just bought a PS3 for LBP and Motorstorm:PR(because it has split screen, and he liked the first one when I showed him). This game does move systems so as long as there is good exclusives for the PS3, Sony can stay in this race.

First off pc gamer already so resistance 2 nope :P already got better fps catalog out there for pc. I really want to play little big planet but forking 460 dollars for the console and game isn't worth it. Nothing in PS3 line up makes me want to purchase it. Also blue-ray meh i can pay 130 dollars more for a blue ray drive for my comp so I will save 270 dollars :D. Though maybe if PS3 was 250 dollars or less I might consider for LBP :P but that will be a few years down the road

I don't know. Buying a console for 1 game makes you a fanboy of that game, not of the console or the company behind it, unless that's what you mean twestern.
Like this for instance. Say I'm a die hard kingdom hearts fan. It gets announced for the Wii but I only own a PS3 and a 360. I would buy a wii just for Kingdom Hearts 3 and nothing else.
People like to bash other consoles, it just makes them feel better. But deep down inside, they know they like the other console in some way or the other. How can you hate another console?

I'll probably buy a PS3 knowing that it has less of a chance of breaking down than the 360. Not to say the 360 is a bad system...it's just more piece of mind. As for the games, they are starting to get interesting. But i'll have to buy a decent TV first!

As a self-admitted Nintendo fanboy I'm very interested in seeing what LBP winds up doing. I picked it up this afternoon and had to be pried away from the TV after five or six hours by my wife. LBP is, IMHO, the best game available for the PS3 now, both on its own merits and in its broad, casual appeal.

Not sure any single game can be called a system-seller for the most expensive, 3rd place console, but LBP will give SONY a good boost. This game IS that good.

On the flip side, I'm going to enjoy the irony of seeing the hardcore fanboys explain LBP.. The same group that blindly hammered the Wii for its casual friendly platformers like Galaxy a year ago are all drooling over themselves in the LBP game ranking thread. That amuses me for some reason. :p

The same Wii fanboys that bashed shooters at every opportunity are now drooling over The Conduit. The same 360 fanboys that worshipped Mass Effect and practically swore off Japanese RPGs now love them because the 360 has the most. They are currently drooling over games that would've scoffed at a year ago. I find this all very amusing, actually.

And the same PS3 fanboys who drool over Killzone 2 for being graphically good while forgetting that it's just another run of the mill shooter with nothing going for it yet will never point it out. Or the same 360 fanboys who continuously tell themselves that the 360 situation of RRODing is getting better when over time MS really hasn't done anything to help the situation despite ensuring you a warranty because they know the problem will persist. Or the Wii fanboys who continue to bash the casual market in hopes it will backlash into more core support but then praise the good and best selling of the core efforts for helping and stabilizing their industry.

This is what I find amusing. Of course I'm not pointing out well known truths... still truths... but ones that aren't as well known.

LOL! jeez man blunt truth you get a cupcake to! :P

I've never been about the easy ones haha. But it seemed like a good threads for truths that were amusing.

Anyways I'd personally never get a Ps3 for $400 so wouldn't matter about LBP or Resi 2 despite sackboys being so cute haha. Their cuteness consumes me and not too keen on Resi 2 but i hear the online is a blast... literally. But my bro alreayd has a Ps3 so I play it from time to time and if I ever get a deal on PS3 for $200 or less down the road then you could say I'm picking it up for these games haha.

Lol, good to know the amount of Xbox 360 owners (now an days) are not ashamed to admit there are games on the PS3 that there starting to like, good goin bro.

I'll return the favor by saying i'd really like to play Star Ocean 4 on the 360 when it comes out, at the moment its the only game that would push me to buy an arcade model 360 or something, but i have a strong feeling it's gonna end up being a multi-platform realease so i'll just wait "IF" Tri-Ace pulls a Final Fantasy XIII/Square Enix. :P

Well if I'm anything I'm a Ninty fan but I get the 360 for Live.  But I don't mind admitting when games are good haha because if they are I'll say it.  But I also don't mind saying that if a game is good it doesn't mean it got there on its own.

As for SO4... I'm really not a huge JRPG kinda guy as really ToS is the only one I ever got into.  If I am ever going to stretch my boundaries it'd probably be in FF rather than SO but we'll see.

Well, dont get me wrong im not saying star ocean is better, Final Fantasy takes the cake between the two by FAR, i was just saying it'd be nice to play if possible.

And if you  "Want" to get into to final fantasy, i'd say somewere in mid 09 you should grab (Or earlier if you so choose) a PS3, since owning both versus and regular XIII is an epic combo plus you'd become a Dual-HD Console owner, Oh and lets not forget the always looming "Final Fantasy VII Remake" which will likely go to PS3 exclusively or PSP.

At anyrate TC sorry for going off topic man, didnt mean to lol. peace!

I generally refer to people that buy a console for a single game (whatever the game or console) as fanboys...

IMO spoken like a true closed minded console fanboy.

I bought a N64 for Mario64, bought a Snes for Super Mario World, bought 2 DSes for New Super Mario Bros (and still loving it when travelling with my girlfriend) bought a XBox 360 for Kameo, bought a gaming PC for Quake, etc. Apart from the 360 I bought I was never unhappy about buying these consoles for those great games.

I know various people who upgraded their PCs for much more money than a gaming console costed at the time just to play Doom, Half-Life 2 or Crysis properly.

Personally I think it's perfectly fine to do so and is none of your business. They may have a bigger budget than you have or simply think the game in question is that good, worthy of buying a console for. Both Resistance 2 (endless 8 player co-op and 60 player squad battles) and LittleBigPlanet (user created content) can easily provide hundreds of hours of fun entertainment, who do you think you are?

Naughty Dog: "At Naughty Dog, we're pretty sure we should be able to see leaps between games on the PS3 that are even bigger than they were on the PS2."

PS3 vs 360 sales

i considered getting a PS3 coz of LBP (level creator) and R2 (Leviathan Battle) and i'm in no way a sony fanboy, never owned a sony console and who knows if i ever will

Improvements are caused by people who complain

Well, I plan on buying a PS3 and this 2 games, but I´m not buying the PS3 just for them. They are part of the reson, but not all of it.
