I generally refer to people that buy a console for a single game (whatever the game or console) as fanboys...

IMO spoken like a true closed minded console fanboy.

I bought a N64 for Mario64, bought a Snes for Super Mario World, bought 2 DSes for New Super Mario Bros (and still loving it when travelling with my girlfriend) bought a XBox 360 for Kameo, bought a gaming PC for Quake, etc. Apart from the 360 I bought I was never unhappy about buying these consoles for those great games.

I know various people who upgraded their PCs for much more money than a gaming console costed at the time just to play Doom, Half-Life 2 or Crysis properly.

Personally I think it's perfectly fine to do so and is none of your business. They may have a bigger budget than you have or simply think the game in question is that good, worthy of buying a console for. Both Resistance 2 (endless 8 player co-op and 60 player squad battles) and LittleBigPlanet (user created content) can easily provide hundreds of hours of fun entertainment, who do you think you are?
