Username2324, your making those of us who own HD consoles look like dicks. Please stop trolling crap.

He never said it will be the SAME. He just said polished, which may happen towards the end of the Wii's life.

Hell all you need to do is look at PS2 games when they first come out till the last few of the gen. The difference was amazing.

Back on topic, I think as people work out smarter techniques to do things, games on the Wii sure will improve, however I think this depends on how lazy or not the developer is. This is the only thing that I think is stalling improvements. The success of the Wii and casual games has made developers not give a crap and just pump out shit cause they know lots of new non gamers will get suckered into buying it.

Agreed on the bolded.  You've got a point but I would point out the trend of the DS, it was released had some good games at launch, a few early adoptors... but for the first about 2 years it had it's launch titles and a good title every so often... then at the end of those 2 years things exploded and we got really amazing and creative things.  Which if you think about it the first year would most likely developers getting familiar with the hardware and seeing how the userbase is growing, start of the second year is when they start develop their serious titles, but in between developers have to make money to stay in business to produce their good money making titles so in the mean time you get about average/below average games that look rushed cause they are rushed cause they need to make money.  But when that development cycle is over the market floods with good games and I can see that happening with Wii and in turn those developers could very well actually be working on making really polished games.

Hard to say. Of course, we are beginning to recieve some very nice and visually stunning games for the Wii (by SD standards), but it's all a question of just how much juice does the Wii have. If it's true that HVS is using the Wii practicaly to the max, then even the greatest amount of optimization won't do much good.

Fortunately, i believe that the Wii still has some horsepower left so i'm not worried.

If you don't have anything smart or nice to say then it would be best if you would not say anything, especially since you go out of your way to troll on this thread without really knowing what we're trying to talk about.

Huh. Who would've thought that beggining anew in my real life would coincide with starting anew on vgchartz?

Any day now, the dollar will be worth less than 2 zloty......any day now.....and my life savings will be in total jepordy ;(.

man those pics dont give the conduit the credit it deserves. The videos are much more overwhelming trust me, i'm not saying its COD4 graphics, but its pushin the wii hardware as close to that as it can

@menago

Agreed HVS said they're pushing Wii to the limit and from here on it's all about optimization but even now they're finding new things, like they found more RAM space to use etc. They're great for what they're doing on the system but really get an even more experienced dev on the Wii and I think there's more then what HVS has found.

@kopstudent

Agreed on your point as well screens really don't do any good looking Wii game justice, it's no CoD4 but it is pretty good.

If I'm making HD owners look like dicks, then he's making Wii owners look like idiots.

You shouldn't have brought the PS3 and 360 into the discussion, it's simply not necessary, a much better comparison would have been PS2 at the beginning of the gen to the end. Which you have now done because you realize how dumb it is to try to compare the Wii to PS360.

Also, as a side note, unless you're watching a slide show your game won't look any better if it's not "technical" because "technical" is where those programming tricks are at.

Look this discussion isn't about the PS3 or 360 you have no idea what you're talking about, this discussion is about visually pleasing games on Wii.  So either stop trolling or I'm reporting you.

 haha no, I mentioned the PS2 because it is a good example of how shit the games first looked to how well POLISHED they were on the ps2 towards the end of the generation.

use your brain for once instead of spin shit to make your arguements fit.

Do you want some cheese with that whine? If you make a thread that tries to answer the question if the Wii can result in graphics that to quote the OP

"give the graphical pleasure of CoD4."

and take the Conduit as am example of graphical improvements in that direction, you should be prepared to see some screen comparisons between the Conduit and CoD4 and the day-and-night difference between the two.

I especially do not get the love for the Conduit. Yes it includes some techniques that are not used on the Wii otherwise. But the end-result doesn't seem to look very nice. I would say that Galaxy looks light-years ahead. Perhaps they should have tried to enhance the foundations like polygon count and texture resolution instead of using all the processing power for dynamic lighting although I was told that it looks better in motion.

OT: That picture of the Conduit is actually pretty good it just needs some AA going on, once it gets that it should look really solid, and in motion that will look really good.

@ maxwell

How can you say that games will look even better than The Conduit on the Wii when you get more experienced developers on there. By that same notion, wouldn't 360 and really PS3 benefit more from that? It's widely known how horrible PS3 is to develop on, and wouldn't finding out stuff to make the PS3 work better make the games look better too? Same applies to 360 about finding things to make it look better.

You seem to be in the realm where PS3 and 360 will stagnate development-wise, but Wii will continue to be developed until it looks as good.
