Forums - Nintendo - remote jacket issues

I've been having some odd issues with my remote jacket to the point that its completely useless.  It's become sticky with some sort of residue so that anything that touches it also becomes very sticky.  This includes my fingers.  Has anyone else been having similar issues?

I'm not a fanboy, I just don't enjoy dual analog control.  It's d-pad or wii-mote for me.

the conduit has changed the way wii play games.

I know.  I'm sick of the puns too.

My jacket leaves the Wii remote with a lot of those eraser residue things. I just don't use the jacket so my remote doesn't get all dirty. Plus I think that it barely improves my grip, maybe even makes it worse (it gets sweaty easily).

# of games above 75 on Metacritic (including downloadable):

360: 241     DS: 144

PS3: 152     PSP: 126

Wii: 85

um maybe you could try washing the jacket off (with soap and water, and then drying it off before you put it back on the wiimote.)

come try out the computer game i've been working on for my high school senior project, titled sling ball. http://vgchartz.com/forum/thread.php?id=47568

thanks for the reply, at least I know someone else has issues with it. I don't use mine at all now either due to the whole thing about it not improving grip, not protecting it at all, and leaving the sticky residue.

Must...resist...innuendo!

Seriously dude, was any of that on purpose?

On topic, I'm Catholic. We don't believe in using protection (or something like that), so I'm afraid I can't say I've had your problem, bud.

...I feel a little ashamed of myself now.

The jacket does seem to be as much a hindrance as a help. On the one hand, it does give a more stable grip (especially for original-model Wii Remotes, which were insanely smooth-edged and slipped out of one's hand far too easily). But on the other, it's uncomfortable compared to without it and it has some curious issues surrounding the silicon it's made of.

For what it's worth, I only ever use the remote jacket on my original Wii Remote, because it is one of the super-slippery models. My second remote is plenty stable to grip, so it doesn't need one.

Sky Render, don't you know that Nintendo wants you crazy kids to always use protection? Geez...

Okay, I'll stop now. Sorry!

There are different model Wii remotes? What teh heck do the new ones look like that's different from the old one? Textured plastic?

Throw it away and play without a jacket like a pro.

There's at least 4 different models of Wii Remote, actually. Most of the differences are in the lanyard (aka. wrist strap).

Model 1: Original model Wii Remote. Has a very smooth finish to it. The wrist strap has a very thin connecting string and a very loose catch.

Model 2: Nearly identical to model 1, except that the wrist strap connecting string is thicker.

Model 3: The body of the Wii Remote is much less slippery. As well, the catch on the wrist strap has a better grip.

Model 4: Like model 3, but with a clasp on the catch so you can lock it in place.
