Well, if it bugs you that much i'd just bookmark this thread to throw it back in peoples faces when they complain about the same thing. I believe someone was complaing because Ratchet or Reistance or something got a bad review from one of these big sites when it was reviewed by someone who reviewed almost nothing but sports games.

Ah, that is a good point, actually. I have seen complaints that the west doesn't rate JRPG's fairly. Unfortunately most of the people I recall saying this stuff are pro-Wii, so maybe it isn't so useful

 

Aha.  I was right.  It was Ratchet and Clank!

"They were plastered with Ratchet and Clank Future ads when they gave the game an incredibly shitty review from some douche who normally reviews sports games and gave a better rating to Call of Duty 3."

Sure the actual thread where more people bitched about it is somewhere too.  Funny though.

All in all it's a case of "Me vs them" for most people... it's fair when it's to their advantage and unfair when the same standard is set against them.

Sad really.

Personally I think games should be reveiwed by fans of the genre... but not fanboys of the series.
