The survey was made among the readers of Dengeki, a japanese game magazine.

Basically the survey says that 3,6% will buy it on day one, 29,4% will wait for a couple of days/weeks, 26,2% are unsure if they'll buy it or not, 40,7% won't buy it at all.

I don't know what to think about it but to me it almost looks like as if the DS market is slowly but surely saturated in regards to the latest sales numbers of the DS which were quite low.

What are your thoughts on this?

Japan's population is 127 million.

3.6% of that is 4.57 million DSi on day one!

Unless they meant 3.6% of current japanese DS owners, which is a mere 860k for day 1.

What was their sample size??

BTW survey's a year ago said the PS3 would be the most sold console.....so thats how credible they are without a good sample size

Now please don't ask me about the sales of Dengeki, I honestly have no idea what they are like.

Okay, Nintendo expects 200-300K, so I believe their shipment will be around that. That's 0.2% of Japan's population, or ~ 1% of the DS owners.

3.6% is a heck of a lot more than they have supply for.

3.6% is a fuck ton.

It doesnt matter if its just dengeki readers in the survey, it applies not only to them, but to people similar to them, the target audience of theirs, so to speak. even then, 3.6% in a day is amazing, and 30% in a few days weeks... those could be pontentially millions....in just a few weeks.

For Pete's sake guys. It's downright awesome if so many gamers were to buy the DSi immediately at launch.

Simple numbers, there are 23 million DS users currently in Japan. If this poll were to represent them all, that would mean that almost 920k DSi were to be bought at launch. That's is a frickin lot.

My guess would be some 300k, 400k at the most.
