Forums - Sales - LBP wk0 sales have made it easy 2 determine the success or not for the game

Well I heard a pretty limited release in NA this week. As in low numbers shipped per store, which is probably because of the recall. Shame too as it may not even hit top ten NPD at that rate. If more shipments come next week it's probably just going to get swamped with R2 and Gears 2.

To be honest, I hope noone hates me for saying this.

I don't want LBP to sell another copy. Its harsh but I think my reasoning for this "little" game will make sense to most people.

I bought this game and it hasn't arrived so it sucks so bad that I hate to think other people are playing it before me.

So there you have it. I know this game is the darling of the PS3 community here, but to hell with it. It had to be said because the hype for this game is making me sick!

Tease.

I don't understand this whole controversy about the sales. Most of the people who predicted ridiculous lifetime or launch sales numbers were just fanboys who still believe that the PS3, or perhaps the South, will "rise again." And yet a good amount of trolls (and you all know who you are) use their predictions as if they were medical advice from the attorney general.

A large amount of people (who would never shut up about it, even when no one was discussing it) thought this would flop on the PS3. And after one week in one region, people are already claiming it to be a flop. Hasn't anyone learned anything from the Wii? Remember Carnival Games?

*Sigh*

Well, at least PS3 owners will finally have a game with long enough legs to laugh at the doubters months after launch.

As a xbox supporter, I've found it to be absolutely hilarious how sony fanboys have tried to spin the 3rd place standing of the ps3 for years now.  The console isn't a bad console, I am sure, but the best analogy I can make of the ps3 is this:

Sony's ambition for ps3 was to build a $800K in a $500-600K neighborhood.  And the house is stocked with builder specific items that most people aren't sold on yet, thus risking yourself to limit your buying audience.  Nintendo built a $400K house and M$ built a $500k - $600K house.  Sure it had some problems, but the builder instituted a favorable warranty program to insure the owner was screwed, but these houses had ton of amenities.  The other problem is that as the new sony houses are built, there is a housing slump, forcing buyers to scale back.

Mark my words, sony is going to be in an ugly bind in 2-3 years, as nintendo and M$ will be launching newer and more powerful consoles, and they will be stuck on the ps3.  So what's my point...just this, THERE IS NO KILLER APP FOR THE PS3 FOLKS...

Wow, nice read. You definitely put a lot of work into that.

But it has to do with LittleBigPlanet...how?

I get the feeling that dedicated PS3 owners will buy this game to help make it a success story. Why would so many "hardcore" players buy this casual game, albeit a very well made one, when it doesn't fulfill their gaiming needs?

You don't get much more casual than with this game.

Yes, i believe that most sony console owners are hypocrites. No doubt that the game will sell, but i would be very surprised if it went higher than MGS4 sales.

But it does. This game appeals to everyone! Just like SMG or Mario Kart.

Exactly, Mario Kart Wii falls in the "everyone" category because is a franchise that gamers recognize (I myself was the 1st one in my neighborhood to try Super Mario Kart on the SNES) and has not a difficult learning curve, so core gamers + casual gamers are cool with this series... Little Big Planet is like that, appeals to everyone...

Anyway, i stand by my 3-4 million prediction, and i'll add in my signature "Little Big Planet is COLOSSUS" if it passes that mark (and i hope it does)...

Thank you. I hate this division between people who like games.

For the amount of hype this game has had as well as the amount of exposure it has received on tv etc.. i would think it would have to sell at least 400k within the 1st 2 weeks to be considered a success.

Personally, I predicted around 500k first week sales, as it's a new IP that not everyone knows about. But legs would be very good, much like Uncharted, but better.

On anecdotal evidence, I don't remember a game that has as much positive impression on my friends as this game. I expect this game to do well.

"Naturally the common people don't want war: Neither in Russia, nor in England, nor for that matter in Germany. That is understood. But, after all, IT IS THE LEADERS of the country who determine the policy and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is TELL THEM THEY ARE BEING ATTACKED, and denounce the peacemakers for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. IT WORKS THE SAME IN ANY COUNTRY."  --Hermann Goering, leading Nazi party member, at the Nuremberg War Crime Trials
