Hell, I can read it fine.

I had the best joke putting what you just said together with your sig pic. I don't want to be mean though. You're going through enough pain as it is.

Don't remind me. Hey, at least we beat San Fran on the road, something I thought wouldn't happen. I mean, they beat us in Seattle by just 3, but we won by 21 points.

I also just bet a crapload of money for the LTD chart... god I hope I don't go negative. Knowing me though, I most likely will.

Join the Prediction League. It's a nice little thing we got going with the weekly NFL games.

I think Sony/LBP fans have to realize that LBP isn't quite the kind of game that's going to have massively, insane debut numbers, because it's a niche game.

Remember Braid? It's still around 200,000 units despite being hailed as one of the best platformers in ages.

How many Playstation 3 games have insane openings? Not many. Most games have decent legs, since the PS3 is selling at a very decent clip per week. LBP will sell well, but I think the major problem lies in how stupid (and rabid) the fanboys are. Just because a game (to you) is made of pure awesome doesn't mean that every other Playstation fan thinks so. Not even FFVII sold over 10m copies at a time that it was hailed to be *the* game.

LBP was set up for failure from Day-1. Not because of the game (which seems great). Not because sales are actually bad, but because Sony fans made it out to be some sort of game that was going to move 1,500,000 units first week.

Also, for the record (and someone help me out here): What's game, that's a new IP, has ever opened to over 1 million units worldwide? The only game I can think of that has ever come close would be Assassin's Creed at 1.3m, but between 2 systems, with the lead system (X360) at 861,000.

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

no need to be mad, LBP had a good start for a new game. Sony never expected LBP to sell consoles, it expected LBP to enhance their holiday lineup for the hardcore. Especially what happened with Uncharted last holiday, I'm sure they didn't expect a miracle from LBP. Resistance 2, on the other hand, IS the game that might lure some 360 fans to PS3.

What mrstickball said. I think total sales will be around 4-5 million for the game.

Unlikely. Not when Gears of War 2 is launching almost day-and-date with Resistance 2.

R2, at best, will get a few more Playstation fans out of the woodwork, and into owning a PS3, but there's really no reason for a FPS-loving X360 owner to buy a Playstation 3 for Resistance. That's like a Wii owner buying a X360 for casual games.

I think Gears came close...and that's Gears. A lot of people thought this game would outsell Gears 2. There was a vote, and I think LBP took second place with a question of "which game will sell more units."

I know a pretty hardcore PS3 fanboy in my WoW guild. He's playing Fallout 3. Doesn't care about LBP. The IP is gonna need to build word of mouth before it reaches the monumental proportions that Sony fans hope it will reach for the mainstream, which I assume is Gears/Mario levels.

Nobody should have expected this to outsell Gears 2....especially opening week. That is a little far-fetched.

I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.

NO NO, NO NO NO.

Ah yes, Gears holds the record at 961,000 for first week sales worldwide..For a single, new IP on 1 system.

But I think Gears was/is a very special case - a perfect storm which we may not see very often, if ever again this generation. It released at a time the X360 was still deeply embedded with the 'shooter box' image, and had a lot of previous Xbox owners hungry for a top-tier shooter, and Gears game them just that.

On the other end, LBP is catering to a totally foreign (at least in my observation) market for the Playstation, and it should sell just like that.

Anything near 500,000 worldwide first week (imo) is a stunning success for LBP. Anyone that thought it'd be well over was/is crazy. Yes, I know there's the whole issue of moving the date, but I think when we look at the first full 2 weeks, it's still going to be around the 1m mark worldwide....Not great in some people's eyes, merely because the game was hyped too much for being a casual game. Casual games aren't serviced well with a major marketing blitz.

Gears was the first real AAA game on the console with broad appeal, and it was lightyears ahead of anything else available on "next gen" consoles at the time. I remember back then when I hated the 360, seeing the game and saying, "Damn, 360 finally got a real, badass game that isn't over-rated." It was the MGS4 of the Xbox 360. Everybody knew about it and knew it was great.

lol. That article is completely bullshit. I do not believe that one game is supposed to be that awesome that you can just completely ignore any other of the awesome games that have come out this generation. You completely lack any good sense of what a good game is obviously. I played Too Human and I've played Super Mario Galaxy and I know what a great game is whenever I have played it. Little Big Planet is complete garbage and hogwash and you did a great job at fooling people again and I'm so fucking tired of Sony's crappy promotions. If they really want to get popular again, they need to stop coming up with these "creative" ideas. Creative doesn't sell today. de Blob? nothing. boom blox? nothing. Zack & Wiki? nothing. Singstar? Nothing. Scene It? Nothing. I'm getting tired of these companies releasing such niche titles as if they are going to be some revolutionary game and furthermore, I think that the gullible assholes that buy the games should try to play a real game like Halo or Army of Two or even Haze isn't as bad as this crap.

All right I know Incandescence was trolling but you cannot be serious.

Edit: Hahaha! Oh man, you got me, you really did. Damn. That was pretty good.

Made me hungry...
