Forums - Sales - LBP Week 1 Sales (NA) -- 164K -- Good or Bad??

Fernando, give it a rest.

Once again, READ THE DAMN OP. GAME RELEASED IN SOME STORES TODAY! EXCLUDING WALMART AND TOYSRUS!

Jeez. At least read up before trolling.

Seriously, this thread needs to get locked. Some people are acting really foolish. At least heruamon realized where he was wrong, Fernando just refuses to get it.

...never been afriad to "Stand Corrected," but with that said, shouldn't we have the initial estimates for week 2 first few days in NA...if it was HUGE?  GH was 500k...and I'm sure we'll get Fallout 3 by tomorrow, if it's huge...shouldn't LBP be out soon?

IF you look carefully, you'll find this thread's rapid growth has NOT been fueled by Xbox 360 or Wii owners.

It seems PS3 fans are trying to have their cake and eat it too.

Engaging massive damage control, whilst simultaneously refusing to acknowledge any damage.

There is no damage control. These are sales from Saturday for a game that most retailers released today.

Bad only because some were hyping it 1 million world wide first week. Good in terms of new franchise.

and some were saying 300k ww lifetime... imagine that...

im amazed that people who choose to be outspoken on such things such as LBP sales this week show they are clueless about the current circumstances. Actually, im not astonished and i guess more saddened that a gaming community seems to throw logic out the window when it comes to this.

i expected maybe 40-50 for ioi to track. im actually pretty blown away by these sales to be honest given the circumstances.

Well considering it released today (although still lacking with Walmart along with ToysRus) I think we should see the numbers possibly Thursday or Friday hopefully.

The way these things generally work is if one big chain (in this case EB) breaks street date, the others do within hours as well.

Sorry, but it looks like LBP is anything but huge.

Certainly not a bomb, but PS3 fanboys need to move onto the next saviour (unless LBP does something MONSTROUS in EU).

Did you miss the whole recall fiasco?  Or are you being sarcastic?  :S

And streets dates are only broken regularly in Europe.  In NA, at best you'll find a lone Toys R Us or Wal-mart breaking a street date on accident.

I did not.  But at the end of the day, it is clear that a large number of stores DID receive copies early and DID sell them.  Especially on Saturday.

That not withstanding, unless the game can double this weeks numbers next week, it will have failed to meet expectations.

And if it cannot triple this weeks numbers next week, it most certainly will NOT be HUGE!!!

Most people (or at list I) have claimed that the game will have excellent legs, and not necessarily a large opening week.

I get it now...LBP is Batman Begins, and LBP2 will be TDK...wowser...ps3 owners will be SO SO lucky!

Do we all really look that bad? Or is it because of the game in question?

Let's repost the original post...

The results are OUT!

LBP Sells 164K in week 1.

Is this a worthy start for SONY's new mascot?

Is It a GREAT start considering LBP was available at very few places in the days that are counted in those sales?

If LBP could do a start at 164K with such low stores opening....how many will it do next week?

Will there be an INCREASE next week?

Did SONY shot themselves in the foot once again with the half baked recall.....where some shops REFUSED to give the copies back to SONY?

LBP OFFICIALLY went on Sale YESTERDAY

DISCUSS"

Those of you looking for excuses to bash the sales of LBP because of your anti-gaming attitudes need to realize that the game went on sale Saturday at limited locations while it seem only a few copies were sold on its original N.A. release date just before it got recalled. So at the most, LBP was out for at the most four days. Some people put their hate for a console over the love of gaming which results in a misunderstanding of the given situation just to fuel a petty agenda.
