Forums - Sales - Americans Numbers up!

I have a question. How much of the sales for PS3 & XBox360 are traditional gamers(Red Ocean)? At some point that demographic is going to become exhausted this console cycle correct? I think thats why you won't see the "systems sellers" effect for those consoles as much cause they are starting to sell mostly to their base.

...On the flipside I think it's foolish to assume that THIS is all the Wii has to offer when it continue to expand the market(Blue Ocean). Just like the DS's stranglehold on Software/Hardware dominance started to occur in it's third year it can't be questioned.

2009 is going to be a VERY interesting year...

I think a lot of people don't ever consider where the saturation point for the HD consoles is ...

Right now, the HD consoles have sold to (roughly) 20% the total hardware sales of the previous generation and many (if not most) of the big games released for these consoles is selling at a similar level to what it sold in the previous generation. If you make the assumption that most gamers who own a PS3 or XBox 360 owned a previous generation console, and their game buying habits in this generation are similar to their buying habits in the previous generation, you have to start to wonder if they're hitting the limits of the "Core" gamers that they so heavily targeted.

@ famousringo.

I guess so but if Gears 2 cant help than what will.

I'm glad you've all come to a consensus on the future of the industry. It was riveting stuff.

Edit: I'm pro Kirby.

No real surprises this week, the wii is the most popular system among children and parents are starting to buy presents already.

I expected a bigger bump for Fable 2, to about 100k, but it's only up around 8k. Maybe Gears 2 will push more systems, and maybe even on a Halo 3 level, but that would be a tall order. It's still going to be a great sales week for the 360 in software.

@smashed and kirby007

Just stop it both of you.

Smashed, let the mods do the modding. If you have a problem with a post or thread report it and leave it at that. If we see something wrong with it we will take the appropriate action.

Kirby, stop encouraging him.

Alright, sorry.

The Interweb is about overreaction, this is what makes it great!

...Imagine how boring the interweb would be if everyone thought logically?

It's always the same thing every week. Everyone flames one another in a thread that stretches to 4 or 5 pages, then we wait until the next week to do the same thing.

A vicious circle, isn't it =P
