Forums - Sales Discussion - will next gen games cost $70?

Remember inflation. I guess there's a roughly 3% inflation in the U.S yearly.

This means that what was 60 dollars in 2001, is in 2006 almost 70 dollars, meaning that in reality they cost the same, just that the value of the coin has decreased.

i feel like some people were getting ripped off during the n64 days. i remember a few games being $70 at the most(maybe one or two at 75), while most were 60. and like half way into the system's lifespan they brought all new games down to $50 to compete with psx cd prices. i probably got 2 or 3 games over 60 bucks, and probably like half my games were bought at $50 brand new.

Where the Hell did you live where that was true? Almost every game I ever bought for the system, from Shadows of the Empire all the way up to Conker's Bad Fur Day, was seventy bucks or so.

i think games are going to continue to more variable variable price points. $5-$100 depending on the scope/hype of the game like nintendo is doing this gen with budget software and sony/ms are doing this gen with "special edition" releases and all three are doing with downloadable titles.

100$ for a game is plumb crazy. For the people saying, it'll go up that high. 70$ is still a little steep.

Not if Nintendo can help it.

I don't know, I think Super Mario Bros. 2 was $40 or was it $50? Anyway, games don't seem to be going up in costs unless you are talking about Wii Fit, Guitar Hero, and Rock Band type games.
