There will be a $399 Ps3 in 2008, When, after 65 nano chips are in it.

A price drop before any of the heavy hitters FF/MGS/GT/Killzone would really drive sales.

Didint come passed that article. Then the question is when will the 80gb ps3 model drop to $399.99

Never! They'll discontinue the 80gb and release a 120gb version for $550 in a year! And keep doing that until the PS4 ;P

Honestly, I'd guess by mid 08 if sales don't pick up after GTA & MGS. Mid '09 if sales pick up.



To cash in my CC rewards points for $300 in Circuit City gift cards to purchase a 360 or not: That is the question.

Never. It is teh done and buried.

The 80 Gig, if it's not cancelled, will hit $499 in 2008 (outside chance of 2007).

If the PS3 hasn't turned around it's fortunes by then, I would not be suprised to see the 80Gig hit $399 by Xmas 2008. If it goes any lower than that, it'll almost surely be a DC-type panic move.

The 60GB as many have said will be discontinued so it will never hit 399.99. That system is just too damn expensive to produce. Sony will lower the price point of the 80GB to 499.99 USD by october and their will be no bundle with it. I would guess that the 399.99 price drop could occur as soon as March 08, but no later than May 08. With the new 65nm Cell and RSX and no Emotion Engine the new PS3's are a lot cheaper for Sony to make so we should see price drops very fast untill it settles at 299.99 in mid 09. I think then we will see 50 dollar price drops 2010 and 11 at which it will be 199.99, however, if a PS3 slimline is made by 2011 I could see a possible drop to 179.99 by 20011. By thispoint I think the 360 will be 149.99 and the Wii at 99.99.

I think there is going to be a mid $400 PS3 price point well before there is a $399 PS3 price point. (ie $450 +/- $20)

Sony is never going to turn a profit when everyone expect them to price cut continuously...
Assuming they lose 200 per system on release, are you expecting them to keep going that route until next gen?
