oh its just fine for people to make fun of George Bush because he looks like a monkey...but nooooo cant say anything about obama...

So saying someone looks like a monkey is on the same level as pejoritavely claiming someone is a Muslim, a socialist, a communist, a terrorist, and not an American?

How about sujesting bush has Downs Syndrome.... or people suggesting Sarah Palin pretended to be pregnant.  Seriously?

There are democrats just as bad.

Anyone who still perpetuates the Palin pregnancy myth is definitely going out on a limb, I agree.  I mean it was plausible until there was solid evidence, but the evidence surfaced really quickly, afterwards the story was just bunk.

I actually haven't heard about people saying Bush has Down's...but I have heard the monkey argument a lot of times.  Generally, I think the monkey comment is more offensive when it is directed at a black person, since it is done so much more frequently and so much more pejoratively.  Its still pretty demeaning when directed at Bush, but I don't think it is as demeaning as some of the comments these people are making about Obama.

We had two bags of grass, seventy-five pellets of mescaline, five sheets of high-powered blotter acid, a salt shaker half full of cocaine, a whole galaxy of multi-colored uppers, downers, screamers, laughers…Also a quart of tequila, a quart of rum, a case of beer, a pint of raw ether and two dozen amyls.  The only thing that really worried me was the ether.  There is nothing in the world more helpless and irresponsible and depraved than a man in the depths of an ether binge. –Raoul Duke

It is hard to shed anything but crocodile tears over White House speechwriter Patrick Buchanan's tragic analysis of the Nixon debacle. "It's like Sisyphus," he said. "We rolled the rock all the way up the mountain...and it rolled right back down on us...."  Neither Sisyphus nor the commander of the Light Brigade nor Pat Buchanan had the time or any real inclination to question what they were doing...a martyr, to the bitter end, to a "flawed" cause and a narrow, atavistic concept of conservative politics that has done more damage to itself and the country in less than six years than its liberal enemies could have done in two or three decades. -Hunter S. Really you thought it was plausable?  That's just silly.  As for the downs syndrome argument.  It was made in an actual post here.

It was discussed in detail here.  There were enough questionable circumstances for the story to be plausible, but I posted a picture of Sarah Palin pregnant, so I myself disproved the rumor in the thread.

Another one of these evil/stupid-typical-McCain-supporters threads? Didn't we already have one of these today?

Are these not typical McCain supporters? If you don't think so, I'd be most interested to read one thing these people said which you don't agree with.

Why do you think these are "typical McCain supporters"?

I support McCain and I don't go around chanting "Nobama" or "He's Muslim". Since when is being Muslim bad? I believe never since we do have freedom of religion in this country. It's people like this that make us Republicans look bad.

Oh and for the record, my parentsm, who are huge Republicans, NEVER taught me to hate anyone. SO STOP STEREOTYPING AND CHECK YOUR GODDAMN FACTS BEFORE WASTING OUR TIME WITH THESE STUPID THREADS.

The Democratic Party may have plenty of loonies in it, but they don't embrace ignorance like the GOP does.

Bullshit.  Rallies like that always bring out crazies, and Democratic rallies are no different, other than they have crazies with a different crazy point of view.  Of course, calling Obama a "socialist" is absolutely true, so there's nothing crazy about that.  Of course, they are also voting for a socialist in McCain (maybe less so, but still).

What's the problem with socialism? I thought these people supported freedoms, that's part of being an "American", right? Freedom? Well, to these guys, it's like you only have the Freedom to agree with them, else you're a communist.

And what's wrong with communism, anywho?

You know the funny thing about socialist policies? Once they're implemented, people will revolt if you take them away.

Try taking social security, unemployment benefits and things like that away from the American people and see what happens.

People hate socialist policies before they are passed, but once they are passed if you try and take them away the people won't let you.  That is pretty much what America stands for in a nutshell, lying to itself about just about everything.

@TRM.

I watched the first two minutes of the first video and the entire second video.
They both show extreme stupidity but neither of them showed the aggression that you see in the video of the McCain supporters.

Of course I think none of these videos are representative of the general supporters of either candidate.

I agree with the bolded part.  I  think the videos are very representative of the voters on boths sides.  This is why I never talk about policy when I talk about why I think someone is winning or losing.  It about image and feelings, because people are stupid.  Remember, we tend to hang around with like-minded people, so we don't notice how stupid we are or how much more or less stupid other people are.

I would cite regulation, but I know you will simply ignore it.
