Forums - General - The Official "I Voted" Thread

Well, early voting is already open in a lot of states, and I am sure some of you have already voted.  I definitely recommend voting early as you don't have to go to your specific precinct (at least in Texas) and the lines are usually pretty small compared to election day.

So if you voted, post here!  And tell us who you voted for.

I voted for Obama for pres and Noriega for the Senate.  Straight Democrat on the rest.  I don't know who my representative is since this isn't my hometown.

Who'd you vote for!

And go vote if you haven't!

We had two bags of grass, seventy-five pellets of mescaline, five sheets of high-powered blotter acid, a salt shaker half full of cocaine, a whole galaxy of multi-colored uppers, downers, screamers, laughers…Also a quart of tequila, a quart of rum, a case of beer, a pint of raw ether and two dozen amyls.  The only thing that really worried me was the ether.  There is nothing in the world more helpless and irresponsible and depraved than a man in the depths of an ether binge. –Raoul Duke

It is hard to shed anything but crocodile tears over White House speechwriter Patrick Buchanan's tragic analysis of the Nixon debacle. "It's like Sisyphus," he said. "We rolled the rock all the way up the mountain...and it rolled right back down on us...."  Neither Sisyphus nor the commander of the Light Brigade nor Pat Buchanan had the time or any real inclination to question what they were doing...a martyr, to the bitter end, to a "flawed" cause and a narrow, atavistic concept of conservative politics that has done more damage to itself and the country in less than six years than its liberal enemies could have done in two or three decades. -Hunter S. Michigan does not have early voting, so I requested an absentee ballot under the guise that I expect on being out of town. To be honest, the parking at my precinct is a pain, and I do not wish to deal with it. Anyways, these are the candidates I voted for:

Bob Barr (L) for president

Scotty Boman (L) for Senate

Allitta Hren (L) for House

I will do the same thing as you. Case a pointless vote. There is no way Obama is going to win Texas, and there is no way McCain is going to win Minnesota.

Well, we are a battle state, but it's fairly obvious who is going to win.

Woot, woot, only a little more than 10 days until election day!

I know this is an American election thread...

I love voting by anticipation (what Canadians call "early voting"). It is so much faster and it allows me to work/volunteer for a campaign on election day. I'm always worried though that once I have voted by anticipation, I always get a worry that the party I supported will surprise announce a "lets round up the _____ (minority group) and incinerate them" agenda. I know it will never happen, but it is always a thought that lingers in my mind.

You might be right - but Obama is the first Dem since LBJ to carry Houston and surrounding counties - according to Zogby. Early voter turnout has hit record levels - and it's still pretty high. Only reason we haven't voted is my wife's card hasn't arrived. However, I think we'll both vote provisional Monday. I was inches from voting absentee in New Mexico - I still get mail from there.
